Elizabeth and me look forwards to catching up and we're very excited to host our first hotel event since the virus.
If you are interested in coming do mail for details at robbiethetrader with "Oct seminar interested".
I have to visit the hotel next week to see if my audio equipment is still working after I left it there in a hurry in March 2020 when Covid struck.
I can see on the list lots of people I've met before AND some people who have been on the retreats look forwards to seeing you all again.
See you all from 10am, let's hope my equipment still works and the hotel internet holds up.
Those who came on the retreat last week, we miss you!!
We stayed on in Palma to holiday for a week and it was weird not having you lot around though frankly I did need three days to recover and get my voice back
What a lovely bunch of fabulous people. We knew some of you returning from last year and the new additions blended in well.
Thanks to Elizabeth the timetable ran like clockwork.
We all had a great laugh throughout too, it was just a fantastic few days for me Elizabeth and Kalpesh.
So many highlights and delightful memories. From learning a new German swear word, to the "foghorn" incident to laughter at the quiz and the lovely night out in the Spanish village.
You all really participated and both the group sessions and one to ones threw up lots of interesting ideas.
Kalpesh came up with some great ideas for your health going forwards.
I'd like to thank the lovely Matt from Spreadex for flying out to Palma on the last day and doing a spreadbet workshop, lots of great comments on that.
Congrats to Dean for winning the first night quiz, very impressive knowledge of music of the 80s/90s powered him to eventual victory. I had to hand out three yellow cards for being cheeky to the host. (me). And one for being a grass.
Thanks so much for your amazing feedback, never sure whether to share any of it here as it sounds like boasting/bigging ourselves up?
But hell, we put a lot of time and effort into it for little financial reward (none at all for me) so I will put up this feedback from Rob:
"Wow, what a retreat. I am inspired. Having access to someone like Robbie for 3 days is amazing. He is so honest and just wants to help us improve. He is such a master at what he does it was awesome to be able to see him at work. Having done one of Robbie's online courses I knew he would be great but the 3 days at a retreat is something else.
Elizabeth is so welcoming and friendly. I have never had a coaching session before and was not sure what to expect. I was blown away. I have so much more clarity on what to do in my life. It feels like the curtains have been opened. Very excited about my new plans.
Kalpesh is such a happy and fun guy. He really listens and customisers what he does for you. The Chakra session was tremendous and left me feeling both relaxed and energised.
Now I am a traditional Yorkshire man, but I can honestly say this is such great value for money. Having access to 3 masters at what they do at one event, I could not recommend it enough. Superb, 10 out of 10."
Thanks Rob, and that's from a Yorkshireman too tight to upgrade from standard Yorkshire tea to Yorkshire Gold..
We will go ahead with another next September, and have decided to do June's in April this year as June is pretty busy with events for us next year.
Dates will be around mid April after Easter.
If you came to last June's and want to join us, let us know as we'll put you at the top of the list as I think some of you wanted to attend again.
If you're new to retreats Elizabeth and me will usually do a zoom meet with you first to check it's right for you.
On our own we explored parts of Majorca and probably the highlight was an amazing journey on a wooden train from Palma up to Soller.
The train leaves from the centre of Palma and travels up the roads like a tram, eventually leaving the city for the country.
It is great fun being on a train travelling around a busy city, people smile and wave, it's great.
Couple of cute stops on the way and some stops to take pix. Definitely worth doing.
Anyhow won't bore on about some other trips except if you've never visited Majorca give it a go especially if you like Ibiza. I guess it's a bit like Ibiza's older brother.
Enjoyed meeting some of you at the online seminar this week.
Thanks to Hazel for all her contributions and great questions even though a few years ago she was caught out by my Mr Whippy machine which went beserk.
It's very tiring doing them but worth it for the feedback like Robert who said:
The best course I have ever been on. Seeing you work through the process was eye opening and amazing."
Thanks for the lovely feedback like this from Chris:
I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long.
Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!
Too many best bits to mention, but I was impressed that you had read all the questionnaires and had something to say about each one.
Also, I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."
Phil:
The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)
As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.
You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!
Thanks Andrew - we have got rather experienced at running them on zoom now!
Jas, thanks for your mail as you've been to two zoom seminars.
Just wanted to say thank you for a couple of wonderful seminars.
Your seminars were brilliant. Delivered methodically and with just a simple honest approach to dealing with the markets. You've helped me immensely in sorting my trading plan out and finding a good and profitable way to trade. After many months trying to figure out level 2, you sorted that out in one afternoon.
Since the seminar, I have placed 5 trades, 2 have closed out with profits and 3 are still running with profits. All trades placed using fundamental research and not Youtube videos
from David:
Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.
I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "ËœBetting'.
I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....
.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"
Naked Rambling
Coming back to London streets after travelling a lot round Palma was quite shocking!
After lots of driving in Spain with the brilliant roads and sensible speed limits it was weird to get back to 20mph sections on wide roads that should be 30.
Then there are all the potholes, the warning signs, cameras and rules and regulations every few metres.
Feels like coming to a communist country from a free one!
I've been getting Xmas spam bloody mails since last month!
Congrats to ocado for being the first "Xmas treats from Ocado"
I've seen Xmas puddings everywhere. One of them in Tescos has a sell by date of Jan 2026 so wtf is inside it except I can only imagine some really nasty preservatives. Good luck, enjoy!
I've no doubt the standard Xmas music will be piped out soon.
Last effing Xmas I gave you my effing heart again! There will be no escape.
We are vaguely thinking of p******* off to Spain for the whole thing, maybe they have better music?
Bah humbug to the whole thing. (Unless you are under 40 or have young kids).
I didn't watch TV at all during the two weeks in Spain (praise me or praise be?)
But here are one or two I have spotted on return.
Slow Horses **** Apple
A fine entertaining show based around a back office where they dump the worst M15 agents.
Featuring as the boss of the worst office he makes the series as an ageing pissed off spy.
SAS *** Ch 4
Obviously just fast forwards to the bits where major irritant and attention seeker Matt Hancock
gets gunked, punched and bollocked.
The other celebs really don't matter. Keep it coming!
It's really quite amazing how teflon he is, much more so than even Blair.
Bank Robber **** Ch4 (Walter Presents)
Nice thing about a non UK drama is you don't know the actors.
A teenager gets mixed up in a droll gang who try to hack a bank and steal loads of dough.
There's a lot of fun as things inevitably go wrong and it's very entertaining. Worth a look.
A BA pilot has been fired over a cocaine fuelled party.
Hey, how come no-one's invited me to a cocaine fuelled party?
Are they fun or does the coke just turn everyone into total arseholes?
No need for coke, just eat one of BA's "Brownies".
Use by dates are 2027 and there is such a long list of preservatives I guess if you
chop some up and snort it, well....
Scientists reveal the date humans will go extinct due to climate .
Bad news I am afraid it is 2032 so nearly time to short everything.
Just kidding: it doesn't have a 20 in front of it, that's the main thing!
Top baby names of 2023 show Harry, Megan, Holly and Phil have plunged.
What do you reckon to 2024. My guess: Russell and Rishi.

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

MARKETS
Well, given I've done the investors retreat in Spain AND just done an online seminar you can imagine quite a number of ideas and trades have come up.
I just haven't the time or energy or space to take you through them all but will manage one or two.
Also I guess we maybe wanted to keep the best ideas between us at being selfish...
Overall the market is quite dull, trending down, but on the back of this there are lots of shares that do look great bargains.
I guess the problem though it's often better to wait a bit before getting stuck into bargains and if you do, don't hesitate to dump if they carry on trending down.
There is no massive rush to buy and I wonder whether we are setting ourselves up for a monster year end rally.
At the moment the market is always finding something to worry about.
This time? Higher oil prices fuelling higher inflation again.
I think given I haven't been able to update for a while I won't discuss older trades I've done, perhaps just a few newer ones.
We got quite a few trades and trades to be at the retreat and the seminar.
I made a few live trades at the online event.
I bought a small amount of Keywords Studios but cautiously as it's a potential "catch a falling knife."
But - there are signs of an upturn at this provider for video games, it is trying to find a new base but this means a get out quick is essential if it starts to fall again so it is risky.
There are signs in its recent statement things might be turning around and it has used a lot of its cash on acquisitions putting it into a small net debt.
Delegate at the online seminar this week Chris felt it had done too many acquisitions and bedding them in might be difficult.
Still now at half of what it was I have given it a small buy.
Marks Electrical is an interesting smaller one - its founder has been there for decades.
It's on a nice slow rise upwards and I am hopeful of a rise up to 115-120.
it's an online electrical retailer which keeps increasing market share.
Profits are going up and so is net cash which looks nice. Management seem very driven.
Downside note? An online delegate pointed out big ownership from one source. I don't feel too bothered about that being a problem for now and feel a delisting is highly unlikely.
D4T4 looks interesting again after a sell off because of contract delays.
This data solutions outfit used to trade a lot higher and this looked like a good time to pick some up.
It's announced a major contract win which accounts for a large proportion of its revenue shortfall for 23.
It reckons it now has a strong pipeline of orders and if so, this could be a good time to buy and I have.
I mentioned last time I was trying to get filled on the sell side of the spread on Knights which happened.
Level 2 really paid off there as since then shares have headed higher after an upbeat statement.
Spirent looks an interesting recovery candidate.
It's been beaten down after some lacklustre figures.
But there were some clues in its last statement there could be better times ahead again.
It is risky as it is trying to form a base and it could be a falling knife which is where a get out quick or a tighter stop should work to avoid any damage.
It's got a massive cash pile and now trades under a forward pe of under 10 and there's a dividend of nearly 5%.
If the next statement shows any sign of improvement then there is a good chance of a 20pc rise from here.
I bought some more YU.
We discussed this a lot at the online event. One chap bought it and made over £4k after we discussed the excellent results. Well I guess that easily paid for the seminar for him..
Already talked about this one a lot - a fabulous statement and it still remains undervalued despite some hefty rises, well so we thought.
Overall on paper I have made a monster amount of profit (£120k plus).
A mistake investors always make is "I'm not buying something cos it's gone up a lot already and I missed it."
Well, maybe you didn't! If you research it and figure out it is still cheap then there can be an awful lot more upside.
It's usually a better policy then buying something that's halved.
MS International has this morning announced its gun contract win with the US.
With potential for more, MSI still looks undervalued.
Even better the chaps running this one are getting on and must be thinking about retirement and a nice sale of the company could be on the cards?
Given all the good news surely a bid would have to be 10 quid plus? Even without a bid the shares are worth a lot more.
On the short side I gave Trainline for one of the group at the retreat to look at.
As a straight talking German she summed up Trainline in one word "Schiesse". Bet you can't guess what that means in German...
I think I impressed her with the two sentences I remember from GCSE. "The cat is under the table" and the policeman is by the traffic lights".
Learning this has done me no good whatsever.
I agree and good time for a short after it spiked up after its results.
We all agreed at the retreat the future of train travel is no longer in tickets at all, you'll just tap your card at the platform in and out and get given the best price.
It's just a matter of time before Trainline hits the buffers. Short and stay short for me!
Another short that interested those at the retreat was On The Beach which spiked up on results while we were there.
None of us thought it really merited the spike up so it was deemed a short and I went short on it.
Intercontinental Hotels is on a nice gentle uptrend and we considered it a decent idea for a spreadbet long.
The main thing with it is to keep a wide stop as it can open up with a massive spread and so too easy to get caught out with a stop too close to the price.
I haven't done much with the portfolio and just tried to let stuff run.
Summer was pretty much a whole load of nothing with a few small gains and a few small losses from trailing stops so no major taken losses or profits.
Small losses then for Oxig and Cab (ended up a falling knife). Small profits for Gaw after a spike up.
We picked up lots of fab trading ranges at the Retreat and I'll be presenting some of the best ones at my one and only in person seminar this year on October 13th.
Also lots of trade hunting, level 2, screening, plus a three course lunch, all day snacks and there's the bar after.
You'll meet a lot of great investors and some people who've been on the retreats so if you are not doing anything on Oct 13th why not spend the day with us all?
Mail me at robbiethetrader with "Oct seminar interested".
If you're interested in a Retreat the next one will be mid April next year after Easter.
If you came to last June's and want to return, can you let us know, we'll give you priority.
Mail me with "retreat interested".
I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".
It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.
It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.
The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".
The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.
I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.
If you don't have Sharepad you can try a free trial using the link below, if you think it is useful after the trial you get a decent discount on the link and can pay monthly if you want.

Spreadco still seems to have the tightest spreads for FTSE 250 shares and the FTSE.

For small caps try Spreadex say for the moment they will carry on with most of the shares so that could be another place to deal in shares IG won't.
If you are thinking of A ftse trade try
as their spread is the tightest at 0.8. Also very pleased with execution - FTSE cos the cheapest spreads there too.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
