Thank you all for some interesting ideas on how to avoid Delhi belly on my forthcoming January trip to India.

Just get it right away urges reader John. Spend three days on the loo then enjoy the rest of the trip.

Great idea John!

Anne suggests I should simply avoid my previous mistakes in Thailand and Gambia and not eat street food.

I will and my partners on those holidays will probably agree!

Dave suggests asking hotels for extra toilet rolls in preparation. Well, thanks Dave, very helpful.

Anyway I look forwards to updating you with the Indian adventure in February.

Here's a moral dilemma for you.

One recent morning the neighbour rang the bell.

Sorry but the van delivering stuff to me has just rammed your car."

Elizabeth dashed out to look at the remains of her pride and joy but lucky the word "rammed" has been overdone and it was just a bit of a bump and some scratches.

Still you know what these things are like probably going to be £500 or more.

She asked the driver for his insurance details but instead he gave a tale of woe.

He said he would probably lose his job if it was reported and promised to pay whatever it cost to get the repair done.

He also really needed the job and kind of intimated he was tight for money.

He offered his mobile phone number and told us to ring him with the bill.

What would you do? Demand the insurance details or take the risk he would just disappear and we would never see him again?

Hard one huh?

I guess we're kind hearted, well I hope so, and we agreed.

We ended up getting it patched up by a mobile guy we know and the bill was about £250.

We then thought about it.

Should we just pay it ourselves? After all, we can afford it. He can't.

It would cause him some hardship probably. None for us.

So another "what would you do?"

Let's just pay it, call him with the good news," said I.

So I paid it. Now said chap is very happy with us and has offered to come over with his van and stick some stuff in storage for us.

I think we'll move the car down the road before he shows up though.

Thanks for all the lovely feedback from the last seminar.

Gary:

Thanks for a great day, I have been to many work related training events and this is the first where time just flew by and was disappointed when it ended, arrangements for the day were spot on.

Seeing Robbie in action was a real eye opener and having a chat with Robbie and Elizabeth in the bar after capped off the day in the best possible way."

Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!

Dave:

I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!

I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."

Phil:

The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!

Naked Rambling

I'm A Celebrity is about to start and they got Nigel Farage for £1.5 million.

Good call but this figure of hate might surprise and probably be very charismatic and charming.

That's why people like Trump and Boris rise to the top. They are what they are and don't pretend to be someone they're not.

Indeed a 90-year-old I talk to every week for Help The Aged loves Trump.

When I asked why she says: "He is just so funny."

A trip to Westfield. November 8th. Fecking Xmas music. Everywhere. In early November.

I know retailers are desperate to get us to part with out money but... NO STOP.

Not till December 1st and only if you really have to. Bloody hate Xmas music. Except the Waitresses one.

Supermarket chain Booths is replacing self service tills with real people.

Well done Booths! (Booths is kind of the Waitrose of the north).

Apparently customers have asked for it. More cashier tills, that is.

This is great news, though unlikely let's hope we can get more cashier tills.

I hate self service, I just want to give my stuff to someone to add up rather than hunting for bar codes.

And I like chatting to people too.

I reckon though it's a north-south split.

Northerners are much friendlier anyway and will always like a chat while southerners are aloof and would rather have relationships with machines.

I always find the further North you go the nicer people are. (Till you hit Scotland obvs).

Culprits **** Disney
Highly entertaining heist nonsense with only two timeline

Perpetrators of a crime three years ago are being hunted down and killed off.

Who and why and in the meantime it's pleasantly relaxing fare with the violence cartoony.

One of the few series I've seem where it seems to improve as it goes.

Robbie Williams *** Netflix
Fascinating: Robbie turns out to be a deeply narcissistic character who despite claims to the contrary continues to seek publicity and approval. Especially approval.

I am impressed that he's managed to beat his drug/booze addictions and well done to him.

Episode three is pretty sad as he has a mental breakdown during a tour.

Btw he is responsible for the irritating Felix cat food ads.

Seinfeld ***** Netflix (The Soup Nazi episode)
Been catching old Seinfelds. What a show, just brilliant, always.

Just got to the classic and funniest episode of all time "The Soup Nazi".

Every line a winner - to seek it out it is Seinfeld series 7, episode 6.

Beautifully crafted comedy and a great performance by Larry Thomas as the Soup Nazi.
Getting bored using your twitter/social accounts to troll or have fight with people or to show off?

There's a new AI tool that will do it for you!

It gets to know your posts and who you want to have a go at/argue with and does it for you in your style.

Now you can fight/show off etc without doing any of the boring writing bit.

Once enough people are using it the bots can then chat to each other and us humans can leave them to it.

There are people keen to pick a fight with me but can't do it as I don't use any social media.

They try on BBs but don't read them either. Tough luck, never mind!

A woman says she can talk to animals and she'll tell you what your pet thinks of you.

For just £500, send her a picture of your pet and she will send back what your pet wants to say to you.

A fool and their money as they say... but she is fully booked. So loads of fools about.

I'll do it if you like for half price.

Just send me £250 and attach a pic of your pet and I will send you everything they think about you.

In the main I suspect it will be along the lines of "Humans are so needy and desperate for attention. Now hand out the food pronto you idiot."

I had a chat with my cat.

She said: "Stop f***ing about and give me some gourmet gold. Don't try me with that Tescos value s***."

She added: "And can you stop talking at me in that patronising baby voice you c***."

I see the UK is pioneering a "gonorrhea" vaccine.

Next time I go to see the doc I'll say with a wink: "forget the flu and covid jabs."

What I really need is the gonorrhea one!" (wink).

By the way doc, can I interest you in a swingers party?"

COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

MARKETS
A ray of hope surged across markets this week as inflation came down faster than expected, just another 2.5 pc and we're there...

A lot of shares are rising on the hope that maybe better times could be ahead.

There is some not surprising profit taking going on today though.
Share price rises this week have upset a lot of newer traders who were only used to seeing their shares going down.

The upward move has caused many to become irritated as they can no longer spend all day moaning.

One trader/investor told me: "I am just used to all my shares going down, it feels weird to see them going up.

I am not sure I like it, I really enjoying moaning on all the bulletin boards about my losses and now I don't know what to write now they are going up."

Another added: "I love being depressed and pissed off all the time about my portfolio. I really don't like this feeling of actually making money."

And another reckoned: "Pah! It's all temporary, it'll all turn to sh1t again, just you wait and see!"

And another: "I loved moaning to my pal on Twitter or whatever stupid new name it is, now we haven't posted in three days. I feel lonely and I am desperately hoping shares start falling again. I really miss whining with him."

A market watcher said: "Watch their sad faces when shares start falling again, they always fall in November. But hey I am getting ready for party time next month."

A lot of shares do look very cheap at the mo and those of you with courage could pick up big rewards sooner or later as fear still rules for the moment.

Interesting to see we are almost getting a takeover a day for medium and smaller companies though sadly only been the owner of one of them so far though did get a double on it.

Hotel Chocolat got a massive bid today, never saw that coming.

Its chocs are revolting in pretty packaging. No idea at how the valuation was reached, I guess it must be the branding power.

Bought by Mars. Have you seen the size of Mars "fun size" recently? Barely a bite and no fun at all.

I picked up some Eagle Eye, after pouncing on it from above using my... er eagle eye.

(Editor - please edit the hopelessly poor attempt at humour in the above sentence, thanks can't be arsed to change it myself - Robbie)

(What the hell do I pay you for anyway?)

(About time you came into the office and stopped pretending to "work" from home)

Eagle Eye isn't cheap but I think given its prospects I'll pay the premium.

It's in an expansion phase and has a net cash pile to make acquisitions and is currently trying to grow in France. Oui, c'est ca.

(Tais-toi Robbie espece d'idiot)

US is going well, revenue up 129pc there.

It specialises in getting customers in various sectors to be loyal.

Today it says its strong performance continues and it is deepening its relationship with Asda as well as bringing in AI to help prospects.

I have no intention of being loyal to the shares unless they continue to go up.

But hopefully Eagle Eye will come up trumps now I have my talons in it. Innit?

I got some shares in Informa after the company released a cracking update.

This B2B events and digital services outfit reckons everything is incredibly rosy and 2024 looks great.

Its loadacash position means it is launching some massive share buybacks which at the very least should support the share price.

It's just the type of company this investor likes to be in!

Not talking Informa any more as the song "Informer" by Snow is now stuck in my head, damnit.

Good Energy does what is says which is rather nice: as in supplying good energy.

It's renewable energy and electricity, gas supply and it's big in electric vehicles.

It really ought to have a fantastic future, trades on a cheap multiple, and has net cash.

The stocko algos love it rating it over 90 on every angle.

So I have bought a fair few with the intention of making it a longer-term hold unless question marks appear.

And you can even feel good about holding such a company given its green credentials.

Maybe even a buy for Deborah Meaden. No, hang on, she'd find something to moan about, she always does,

I picked up some CMC Markets this morning after it reported.

This spreadbetting and other derivatives outfit has been hammered for some time, seems to be seen as the poor relation of IG.

But could it be near its bottom? The report is as expected, pretty much break even but
It has a massive cash pile and reserves, take those into account it looks terribly cheap.

If its markets begin to pick up, or there is tons of volatility and if forecasts are anywhere near right then the current price in retrospect will seem like a bargain.

I also wonder whether a bigger firm like IG would consider snapping it up down here - after all there are tons of similarities, and with streamlining could be a great buy.

IG is forecast to have more than £638m cash next year, CMC can be bought for just £265m. I reckon I would though I guess it would have to stump up 150p-170p.

Anyway I have tucked a few away with actually quite a loose stop as its assets give a lot of backing to the current share price. Interesting to see if directors buy in the next few days.

I took some profits of £678 on Avon. It has pretty much reached target and sellers were starting to come in.

The short in On the Beach was closed for a profit of £1,200 and Cto went for a loss of £274.

I try not to sell stuff back end of Nov because shares can get a real lift in December.

Starting to get messages about how to play the Santa rally. Carefully is the word!

It has a lovely tight 0.6pc spread on the FTSE.

XMAS RALLY SPREADBETTING
I discovered a SB firm that does just 0.6 on the FTSE and tight spreads on 100 and 250 shares, also handy right now if you are shorting given the such tight spread

Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.

That is going to be great for the Xmas rally bet.

Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.

Here's the link if you want to sign up, on this link the lovely Lorenzo will help out if you run into trouble or make a fat finger trade.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".

It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.

It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.

The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".

The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.

I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.

If you don't have Sharepad you can try a free trial using the link below, if you think it is useful after the trial you get a decent discount on the link and can pay monthly if you want.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
