I am off to India next week. Here's hoping for a crazy, colourful adventure which doesn't end up with days sitting on the loo.

I had the jabs. I wasn't going to bother with them as we're not going into the wilds or anything.

The Mrs claimed "It will be nothing really and they don't hurt and you won't have a sore arm."

Well I get tricked easily cos.. three separate jabs! It did hurt and I did get a sore arm, actually arms.

Ow!" "Ow, f***!" What another? "Owwwwww!"

And I wasn't even offered a sticker. And my arms hurt for three days.

Obvs I made the most of it and moaned like hell mainly to get away with not having to do the bins.

I was a bit worried before having the jabs as years ago before a trip to the Gambia I had some jabs.

I came out to pay and immediately collapsed in the waiting room in front of 25 others about to have their jabs.

I thought I was about to die. I was hustled away from the now panicked waiting room and after an hour was ok.

Ok, at least that didn't happen.

Wish me luck for the trip. I'm spending some of my ill gotten gains on shares on business class flights to Mumbai.

I wish it was Emirates which is always great, instead it's BA which is usually terrible.

Despite being business class will probably still only get a stale croissant, and will our bags make it onto the flight?

Apparently BA has some new biz class seating so here's hoping it will be good.

Of course with BA start with low expectations and hope they will be "above expectations".

Anyhow I should have a tale or two to tell on my return.

We appear to be doing the same route as James May in his new TV show "Our Man In India"

He starts in Mumbai, then onto Udaipur and then to Delhi which is exactly our plan.

It all looks chaotic, colourful and fun. Looking forwards to a "tuk tuk" ride.

Last time I did that was in Bangkok many moons ago.

The tuk tuk driver said "Like to see sex show?"

Maybe I did, maybe I didn't, mind your own business.

In Udaipur according to the James May prog, apparently you can go round a roundabout any way you like.

That's fine, I can cope, I've been on the Cat in The Hat ride in Disneyland you know.

I've been checking out the movies on offer on BA, I guess I will try "Barbie" given Amazon still want a tenner to watch it.

There is also "Dumb Money" about the Gamestop craziness during Covid.

BA sneakily offers "Paramount Plus" shows but only one episode is free, you have to cough up if you want to see the rest, cheeky bastards.

Wi Fi is available but who needs it on a plane? A chance to relax from the glare of the laptop.

I hear the worst thing you can do on a flight is order tea or coffee.

Apparently the tubs holding the water don't get washed out much, yuk.

So we have taken two flasks, and our cunning plan is to ask Starbucks to fill up with hot water to which we can then add our Yorkshire Gold teabags.

Hah! While others will be drinking tepid infected tea, we will have fresh Yorkshire. Nice..

Three of you mailed me with the exact same probiotic to take before eating meals.

Geraldine said "I went to India and took these before meals and I was the only one who didn't get tummy trouble."

Thanks all will be taking them and already started, apparently they promote the growth of healthy bacteria.

I was happy to see all 5 star reviews for them too.

Link for them is here:

>

Will let you know if they work.

Anyway, see you soon with some tales of India. And see some of you next month for the online trading day.
Thanks for all the lovely feedback from the last seminar.

Gary:

The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.

Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.

The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."

Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!

Dave:

I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!

I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."

Phil:

The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!

Naked Rambling

The Post Office scandal is really very shocking.

I'm sure we are all angry about it after watching the ITV drama.

Who's to blame? Well, loads of people who put themselves and their jobs first.

After Ed Davey's many calls for others to resign over the years perhaps he should fall on his sword.

He's been described as "lazy and complacent."

Which frankly sums me up accurately. Hey me and Ed have something in common.

Unfair to just pick on him refusing to listen to Alan Bates. There are so many at fault.

But the main culprit must be Fujitsu. It should never ever be handed a contract again.

What it did by getting into accounts and lied about it was simply unforgiveable and well done the whistle blower.

Fujitsu should also be directly paying big amounts to those it screwed over with its lies.

The post office management proved a disgrace.

Isn't it funny how it's always the people that get paid millions that come up morally bankrupt.

Let's hope all the workers get the compensation they deserve and quickly.

And Alan Bates gets a CBE, OBE and a knighthood. What an amazing man.

What courage, persistence and goodness. A true hero of our times.

All those ruined lives because the rubbish computer kept saying "no".

This turns the attention to AI and computer systems in general.

What if in the future an AI demanded £20k from you that you know you don't owe?

What if the bill comes in and you can't find a human to argue with, then the bailiffs come round?

I'm already worried about the software I now have to use for tax and vat.

One slip of the finger and it's easy to get into trouble. Then try calling the tax office and
getting through to a human being.

Will we just end up battling with unemotional AI bots for the future?

Let's hope those in charge get a grip on all this and make laws to protect us all from being hounded for money we don't owe.

After all if it happened to them, couldn't we all be next?

The BBC should make its new year resolution to fire Gary Lineker and the other guy from bagging £2 million between them from our licence fee money for 6 short links a week.

Let them make their money in the independent sector.

Pay a couple of other pundits £200,000 max, if that.

Football fans just want to watch highlights of their teams and we don't care who presents it.

I wish my team Fulham all the best against Liverpool in the semi final of the league cup while we are away. A good effort in the first leg and you never know.

But will the powers that be allow a Middlesbrough Vs Fulham final when they want a Chelsea Vs Liverpool final?

Watch out for some interesting refereeing decisions....

As we're off to India kicking off with Mumbai next week it is weird that two new shows on India debut featuring our very trip!

Our Man In India *** Amazon
James May goes to Mumbai, Udaipur and Delhi in the exact order we're doing it.

The wildness and colour of India shines through as James acts the hapless Brit abroad.

There are some dull bits though like when he visits a belt making factory or suchlike.

Still, the show makes me look forwards to getting stuck into the chaos of India.

Streets of Gold: Mumbai *** BBC 2
So so look at the 1% of the richest residents of Mumbai.

They are wonderfully flamboyant and eccentric.

Maybe we might meet one? If you are one, email me and we'll meet!

Fool Me Once *** Netflix
Another adaptation which is pulling in big numbers.

Ok, you have to buy into these things, the silly twists from the same actors you've
seen so many times.

And the amazing kitchens that none of these characters could ever afford in real life.

Still, there is entertainment to be had so best to not question anything and ride with it!

Fargo ***** Amazon
All episodes except the last one are now up.

The last series wasn't great but this one? A massive return to form and totally addictive.

Of course there is cartoon violence but there is loads of wit, lots of funny lines and
it is beautifully bonkers.

It improves with each episode and its dark humour is much appreciated

Sadly now onto the UK version of Fargo... which isn't as good

The Tourist ** BBC1
This tries really hard to be like Fargo but way too hard.

Loads of stuff is thrown out but it's a shame they had to portray the Irish Police and Irish altogether as complete thick numbskulls so boo to the writers from all of us connected to Ireland.

You writers are both total feckers, to be sure.

There are some witty lines here and there but the script is over the top adhd.

The plot has way too many holes and seems to be made up on the spur of the moment with little planning. Stick with the real Fargo.

Nolly ITV ****
Very nicely told life and times of Crossroads star Noele Gordon.

She was the queen bee of the terrible but loved soap Crossroads.

An intriguing tale of how she was forced out when execs tried to close down the show.

Mr Bates Vs The Post Office ITV *****
All of us feel angry after watching this, hard to believe it's all true.-

Very well done so congrats to ITV. The tale told is a shocker of lives ended, reputations
torn apart and the little guy accused and found guilty without evidence.

On the other end are the smug bureaucrats and IT bosses who lied to save their skin.

Let's hope the powers that be learn from this tale and be very careful how computers and
AI develop.

Truelove Ch4 ****
Excellent drama about a group of friends coming to the end of their lives and deciding to bump each other off rather than face a grim end.

Interesting take on what's right or not with assisting dying.

The script is razor sharp and very witty and entertaining considering the rather serious material.

Truelove from me for this series. I'm off to Switzerland before getting near a hospice.

Greggs is expanding with loads of new shops.
So do you enjoy a Greggs Sausage Roll?

If you do, don't read the next bit and here is a warning.

SPOILERS AHEAD!:

The ingredients of a Greggs roll and this is totally serious...

Are you ready? Last chance to turn away...

Water, Fortified Wheat Flour (Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Pork (20%), Palm Oil, Rusk (Wheat), Seasoning (Salt, Yeast Extract, Modified Starch, Pea Fibre, Sugar, Stabiliser (Diphosphates), Ground White Pepper, Barley Malt Extract, Acidity Regulator (Tartaric Acid), Preservative (Sodium Metabisulphite), Spice Extracts, Rapeseed Oil, Herb Extracts), Glaze (Water, Sunflower Oil, Rapeseed Oil, Modified Starch, Milk Protein, Emulsifier (Mono- and Diacetyl Tartaric Acid Esters of Mono- and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids, Mono- and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids), Skimmed Milk Powder, Stabiliser (Carboxy Methyl Cellulose, Carrageenan, Cellulose), Acidity Regulator (Sodium Phosphates), Colour (Carotenes)), Rapeseed Oil, Isolated Soya Protein, Wheat Gluten, Salt.

Enjoy!!

Ps. Don't google Sodium Metabisulphite!

Spoilers end here.

The former Post Office chief says she will send back her CBE.

Do you think she'll send it first or second class?

Tip: Don't send it by Evri or that CBE will never be seen again.

Our next leader Keir Starmer wants teachers to supervise teeth cleaning by kids.

If I was a teacher I'd give that plan the brush-off.

A US university professor has been sacked for making "vegan porn videos".

What on earth is a vegan porn video?

I guess they must stick carrots up their bums or something.

Given they don't eat meat oral sex for men presumably is not allowed.

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

MARKETS
After a Xmas rally which worked out reasonably, time for the usual January gloom.

Credit card bills land after the Xmas overspending.

Actually it's not too bad yet. Indeed there are some signs we might even have a good year.

Inflation is due to come down to 2pc and interest rates should drop.

Traders and investors on the whole tend to get on the gloomy side.

They love to worry and get angsty, believe me I've met lots of them.

Just relax, there's more to life than money, honestly".

Let's start the year looking up. It might even turn bull.

But if I said I knew that for a fact then I would be talking bull.

Well, knowing I'm off to India for a couple of weeks and I don't want to look at my laptop much I'm hoping the next two weeks will be nice and quiet.

No black swan events please. Now I'm asking for it.

I bought some Celebrus Technology.

Could be a nice one for 2024 as it announces four new contracts with an upbeat outlook.

I already held a small amount from its previous existence as D4t4.

It's announced a very confident outlook with four contract wins including two banks.

With some decent net cash and likely profit upgrades this looks like a nice longer-term isa tuckaway.

Some shares that got bid for last year were kind of disappointing with big debt and so a lower rating.

Which kind of describes TT Electronics. But it seems to be exactly the profile buyers seem to want.

The problem with TTG is its debt which bidders so far don't seem to be worried about.

Because of this its rating is low as it it expects probably to profit by £43m.

It might just rise on its own if things are sorted but given the low rating this could succumb to a takeover.

If profit and debt forecasts are anywhere near the mark, profit forecasts of near £53m with debt of £90m it will at some point start to look cheap. Patience may be needed though.

I've bought to forget about unless it craters and hits the stop which may mean something is off.

I got some Costain, this is a cheap looking and very interesting construction co as it's winning some big contracts in the water sector.

Water regulation means water companies are going to have to spend out and this is where Costain comes in.

Another great sign is net cash has soared.

It's gone up from £123 to £164 underlining a very strong performance.

With a PE of under 6, this looks a very nice buy and hold.

An average up buy in Eagle Eye Solutions.

This real-time marketing outfit is in the right place, right time.

Right here, right now - nice lyrics for a potential song, what do you think?

It just keeps on winning new contracts and it can now add the buzz words Artificial Intelligence.

Today it launched its AI power solution for retail.

This share is not cheap for sure with a forward pe of over 30 which is out of my usual range.

But on this occasion I'm paying for potential. Downside though if it disappoints or doesn't deliver the share price will take a hit. For now with prospects looking good, I'm paying up.

I decided I should have a bit of exposure to the US "magnificent 7" (Amazon, nvidia, apple etc) without having the risk of buying into them all separately.

Instead I have bought an ETF "QQQ" which gives holds them all. And lots of other top teccy cos.

But put simply if these top shares go up the value will go up and vice versa.

The risk is spread over lots of cos.

I am going to stop there, if you are going to use an ETF please read up about them first and understand what you're getting into.

After an upbeat update this week I sold some of my CMC, for ease for me the lot for the website.

A near 50 per cent profit in just 6 weeks was enough for me to reach for the take some profits button and for the site that's a nice 6 week profit of £2,135.

After all at that percentage that's like getting a bid on a share.

I might consider buying those back on any profit taking weakness that develops.

Inf went for a profit of £247. Wosg hit a trailing stop for a profit of £1,484 and Vtu is out for a profit of £335.

I sold half my Cerillion after a good run for a website profit of £2,057 still leaving a nice holding and potential buy back on current weakness.
Profits banked for the website then are a total of £6,258.

The Xmas rally worked pretty well, as long as you placed the stop a decent amount away at around 150 points as it did go up but there were some bumps along the way.

I ended up with about 5k in profit on spreadbets and a couple of k on the ETF.

Not a vintage year but not bad. I played the ftse well, not so good on the Dow though where I managed to put stops in all the wrong places.

If you had bought and held on there were the usual 300-400 points available.

However, you would have needed nerves of steel to hold as there was plenty of volatility.

2024 could be a good year in which case upbets in indices could pay off.

I would only suggest you get involved with indices if you are very experienced otherwise it is too easy to lose.

Conversely if you are pessimistic then a medium term indices short might pay off.

Used TN for the indices and very happy with its performance. Link to TN here:

I am out of all that at the mo as away on my India trip and don't want anything to worry about.

The portfolios have improved nicely recently.

However in trading you can go from hero to zero overnight and you can never ever get complacent.

Yu Group continues a great run but a trading statement due soon is going to have to be supa dupa.

If it is, it still doesn't look expensive.

IGQ performs well though volatile after several contract wins as does MS International.

Good Energy keeps trying to get above 400p, if it can some more upside possible. It is in a 350-400 range a buy towards the bottom of that could pay off.

Knights Group, the winning share at the December seminar (well done Gail) reported nicely today giving all of us there a near 30pc rise, well done us!

It was one of those on my Dash for Cash screen on Sharepad.

I discovered a SB firm that does just 0.6 on the FTSE and tight spreads on 100 and 250 shares, also handy right now if you are shorting given the such tight spread

Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.

Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".

It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.

It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

One or two of you asked about how we got our car back after it was stolen, we used apple airtags, hide them in your car or under your bike seat and get your car or bike back, amazing.

Amazon have them, link here:

The steering lock we were recommended and bought you can get from amazon, link here:
I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.

The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".

The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.

I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.

If you don't have Sharepad you can try a free trial using the link below, if you think it is useful after the trial you get a decent discount on the link and can pay monthly if you want.

Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time.
