SHARES RETREAT NEW SEPTEMBER DATE! Sep 10-13th

The original September retreat is sold out but we have 3 on a waiting list and we were wondering about doing a second one on Sept 10th-13th.

Retreat is three days in Palma discussing shares in groups and in 1-1 sessions with me,
mindset psychology with Elizabeth and physio, massage and or healing with Kalpesh.

We cover as much as possible from whatever is happening that week on live markets but with 1-1s I can cover anything you'd like and I examine your portfolios.

But the idea is also to have fun! So I'm quiz host on the first night, and we all go to a local
restaurant for dinner on the last night and generally have a great time together.

You get your own room in one of the lovely two bed villas next to a golf course and it's all peaceful and lovely. There's a pool right there, and in the main building there's a big heated pool with steam room and jacuzzi plus tennis and golf if you like that.

A lot of new friends have been made the last couple of years and we are getting a lot of people who are returning which is lovely.

If you may be interested in Sept 10-13th please email Elizabeth at elizabethburns2 for more details.

Lovely time in Spain thanks for asking.

But you don't really want to read about someone you don't know's holidays do you?

So on this occasion I'll give you a rest but a nice relaxing trip.

No sign of the Spanish telling us tourists to go home.

London City Airport remains fab, no liquid rules there.

Unfortunately somehow Elizabeth picked up the cough bug that's doing the rounds.

She had a few bad nights but now on antibiotics and doing much better.

Sadly though we missed the chance to meet John Cleese last night as she wasn't well enough yet to visit the West End.

My sister who owns six West End theatres (Nimax Theatres) invited us to the opening/press night for Fawlty Towers at one of her theatres, the Apollo.

It's basically 2-3 episodes of the TV series mixed up into a hilarious show.

She tells me Cleese, now 84, is a delight and full of mischievous fun.

We're hopefully going to go in the next couple of weeks and maybe still John as he may go again.

In the meantime she tells me tickets are selling out fast so if you want a great unwoke laugh get them while they are still going, prices are good.

Go to you may need to book for next month as tickets look scarce.

Reviews have been good with a 4 star in The Times today.

Just one thing to remember: "Don't mention the war".

Before heading off to Spain we went into town to see a friend in the West End who was acting in a play.

She's been getting lots of great parts after leaving EastEnders.

Afterwards we went out with her and another friend and a few other actors.

Found our way down to the basement of an Italian restaurant which didn't mind us ordering just puddings.

One of the actors discussed a phobia he had I'd never heard of before "doronophobia".

It's fear of receiving gifts.

What's worse with this chap is he doesn't have a filter with it.

So if someone gives him a gift he doesn't say "Wow thanks that's wonderful".

He is truthful and says "I don't really want that, could you take it back?" or something like that.

Our chat rang a bell with me: I'm not keen on gifts either though as a people pleaser I do pretend I want some unwanted sugar or alcohol with generally is what gifts are.

I either get champagne (don't like it!) or posh chocolate (hate it!). I'm a Twix or Dairy Milk guy.

Actually just please don't give me a gift.

Worst time is Xmas. Brokers and others send me hampers.

I don't want to sound ungrateful (ok I am) but I end up with loads of stuff I don't want and will never eat and a struggle to offload.

It's always brandy butter (ugh), coffee (I only have a nespresso machine) Tea (I only drink Yorkshire), something salted caramel (just no) 85% organic chocolate (NO!!! and something that looks gross in a tin.

Plus end up with the problem of how to dispose of the actual hampers which end up stacked up in a corner.

This year I am going to address the problem and ask all these firms to please not send me anything.

It's harder with friends though. Another box of posh chocs this week.

I am trying to say things like.. mmmm. posh chocs.. but I get so many, I do love Molton Brown though!

If you really want to give me a gift a bottle of expensive Molton Brown shower/bath gel for me!

I am a big fan of Molton Brown. The shower gels are amazing with great scents and it's actually made in the UK!

If you're looking for a gift for Father's Day this is a decent idea, get him something manly like the tobacco flavour.

I made an order today and I saw a 15pc off apparently if you use the link below (assuming it works)

>

If buying Molton Brown for me my fave is either Orange and Bergamot but its new tangerine fragrance has suddenly become a new fave of mine so I will take one of those, thanks.

What do I give people? Cash!

Let them buy something they want (while we are still allowed to use cash).

Worst year was 2020 when I got so many bags of Hotel Chocolat I could have started my own shop.

Thanks for the feedback from recent events.

Gary:

The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.

Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.

The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."

Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!

Dave:

I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!

I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."

Phil:

The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!

Naked Rambling

Where's Nigel Farage been?

Not noticed him for ages.

Mind you I do hear about him every week as Vera, the 91-year-old I speak to every week for Help The Aged is a big fan and likes his TV show.

He has actually come out with a sensible comment that Sunak and Starmer are so dull no-one much will bother voting.

So true. Plus you get the feeling they're both a bit crap and just enjoy the limelight and will say anything to get elected.

Also I think most of us feel whoever is in, it will be the same old thing with nothing much new and usual efforts to get as much tax as possible while spending it badly.

I know this is controversial and Theresa May wasn't all that but.. you feel she really did want to make a difference and try and make things better and had a sense of duty.

Same with Gordon Brown.

Some Lord or other, Lord Blaah Blaah of Blaahberry or some such has come up with the bright idea of banning catflaps and putting warning bells on cats compulsory.

Then birds won't be killed.

Look Lord Blaah, animals are designed to kill each other, for example cats kill rates.

You do wonder though if it came true the Police still wouldn't come round for a burglary but would come rightaway if your cat flap was still open.

I suggest taking any notice of anyone who is a "Lord" is madness.

They are usually ultra sure what they say is right but in reality they haven't a clue and usually have bad breath.

Except the lovely Lord Sir Alan of Sugar of course.

Can my son win the next series please?

He's got a brilliant idea for a pie shop inside a gym.

Have a workout then relax with a pie after. Good right?

Dr Who ** BBC1/Disney

Disney has shoved lots of money into Dr Who and it's a kind of re-start and I thought
I would give it a go as if I'd never seen it before.

My only conclusion is it's now for under 12's only.

There is nothing here for adults unless you want wokery.

Clunky political lines include refugees, government cuts, abortion etc.

Of course we get a "them" and a drag queen early on.

There's no drama, no comedy and no plot, and it's boring.

I lasted 15 mins into episode 2.

Ah for the days of Tom Baker and the daleks.

Clarkson's Farm **** Amazon
Another entertaining series kicks off with Clarkson trying to make money from stuff like
blackberries while Kaleb tries to make money from the main stuff.

Lots of fun encounters with plenty of Clarkson/Kaleb comedy backed up by head teacher Charlie.

Also interesting that one half of 90s dance group Groove Armada has come up with what looks like a brilliant idea to help farming to use less chemicals and make more money.

Highlight was boy pig trying to mount girl pig but his little willie wouldn't put in an appearance.

Lisa's attempts to sell illegal stuff at the farm shop hilarious too.

Double The Money *** Ch 4

A kind of Apprentice knock off, teams are tasked with doubling their money every week.

I just fast forwarded through most of it but most teams managed it.

Moral is, if you put the work in, you can make money.

Though the best team made most by fortune telling which just goes to show how gullible most of us are.

A Man In Full *** Netflix
You'll need subtitles on for this as our lead character's strong US drawl is hard to understand.

It's a ho hum tale of a Trumpesque dude who is taken on by a bank trying to bankrupt him.

Some controversy as there's an erect willie featured at one point.

I didn't mind at all given it's nowhere near as big as mine.

Red Eye *** ITV
Ludicrous thriller full of terrible acting, awful script, plotholes and silly cliffhangers.

And yet... well it's one of those that's so silly you can't quite help yourself but go for the
next episode.

The real baddie is obviously going to be the one that's supposed to the the goodie.

The steward should get on the mike and say "If you're in economy good news.. five people have been killed so far and they are all in business class.. serves them right the

Fortune Hotel * ITV
Lazy formulaic Traitors rip off full of tedious show offs from central show off casting.

I had a spreadbet for a quid on Switzerland to win Eurovision.

I got it at 50 points, and bagged 100 points for the win giving me £50.

The UK entry was so embarrassing featuring what looked like a public toilet gangbang so no wonder we got no points from the voting public across Euroland.

Lots of insults are going out of fashion as Gen X dump them or never heard of them.

Among disappearing insults are tosspot, blighter, pillock, nitwit, git, plonker, prat,
numpty and toerag.

Me? I don't think I'm a pillock a nitwit or a numpty.

However to be truthful I am sometimes a git, plonker and a prat.

For those of you over 55 btw which is probably nearly all of you, young people use
the term "Karen" instead which means entitled or overwhelmingly demanding.

Got it, Karens?

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

I think I'm going to go away more often!

Since my return from Spain there's been three bids on shares I own the main one for me being my top holding Iqgeo, more in a mo.

Who'd have thought it? Shares can sometimes go up as well as down.

There's more chance interest rates in the UK will go down a bit more than thought after the latest inflation figures.

Also the same in the USA.

Plenty of noise that UK shares are still very cheap and indeed compared to the US we are.

If US valuations were applied to most shares (apart from the awful pants in the basement) most shares would be double what they are at the moment. Anyway for now shares are going up.

I've done some more buying which means the isas are now fully loaded.

Games Workshop came up on quite a few of the screens at the last online seminar but level 2 looked bad on the day of the seminar and the week after.

However buyers then started to pour in and I did too.

It isn't cheap but prospects look good and there's a lovely dividend.

Shares need to get above the 1000p mark to go higher.

But while in Spain I noticed shares rising from support with tons of buyers on level 2 so I bagged some.

Quite an investors favourite this one probably because blokes like to play pretend war games.

I've picked up some shares in Accesso Technology which provides e queueing.

Like if you're at Legoland (thank goodness my days of having to go there have finished) you can jump the queues.

Shares are on a bit of a roll and I'm more in this for the continuing re-rating than anything longer term.

Prospects for the moment look good however they are risky as the rating is high so any disappointment would be punished with a big drop.

Spread can get wide but got mine on the sell side using DMA.

Keller was another that popped up on a lot of screens at the online seminar, I did wait a little bit then bought some.

Yesterday, this geospacial technical contractor (don't ask me what this means) announced a strong trading update.

Despite very nice regular gains, the shares don't seem expensive yet and there could be further upside here.

The update seemed very bullish and there's a decent chance in time the shares could head for 2000p.

I've bought into Filtronic, a share I've looked at once or twice but it never quite seemed right.

But there has been a game changer announcement of ahead of earnings and a tie up with Space X.

It's a risky play though: what if the new partnerships don't lead to profit gains?

If not the rating has gone way too high, but if it can pull off some big deals, well, the
shares could potentially double from here.'

I've gone in and bought a cautious amount and expect some volatility so used a very loose stop for now.

There seems to be some sudden buy interest in the off the radar Science Group (SAG).

This one generally sticks around 400p and barely ever moves but I've held longer-term patiently as I think it's cheap enough for an eventual bidder.

Anyway noticed some gradual uplift in the price the last few days and maybe it means there is something in the air here?

I bought some more. Could be something, could be nothing.

Easyjet shares hit some turbulence this morning but I took advantage of the drop today and bought a few.

I have honestly no idea how to value an airline, too many variables which is why I rarely get involved.

But I suspect it's going to be a rather good summer for Easyjet.

Not my intention to hold this long-term just looking for a rating back up to say 560.

I took a bit of a flier on Watches of Switzerland a few days ago knowing a statement was on the way.

I did it as a spreadbet, my reasoning was getting a guaranteed stop if said statement was a stinker and let's say the shares dropped 40pc or something.

I then knew exactly what my loss would be if a warning did take place.

This is one of the benefits of spreadbetting over normal trades where with some bigger shares you know exactly what you may lose should there be an overnight profits warning.

A standard stop won't be honoured on an isa account say, only on a guaranteed and that is only with spreadbetting.

Not all the SB firms do guaranteed stops - the two with GS's that I use are TN and Spreadex.

You pay a little bit extra with TN if the stop gets hit (not much) with Spreadex it's a slightly
wider spread on putting on the trade.

They don't usually allow a tight GS, you need to place it a fair distance away.

Link for TN:

>

TN also does a tight spread in Gamestop if you want to get involved in the craziness there.
More on this live at my spreadbet seminar June 7th, if you fancy spending the day with me online mail me for details.

I'll be looking at lots of SB trade ideas too and three spreadbet bosses will be chatting to us and taking questions.

Well, it's been a super time for me and profits with my biggest holding Iqgeo getting a bid.

Even though not a staggering bid I've trebled on the shares.

Positions for the website alone are in profit by nearly £25,000.

Thanks for the messages of thanks from some of you readers who made a killing.

But.. following me on shares please beware, I don't get everything right.

Personally overall including my sipp I held nearly £300,000 so profit overall is rather fabulous.

It also allows me to free up loads of cash.

Bid is at 480, and current sell price is 468p.

Could there be a higher bid? It doesn't look that likely but not impossible.

For those of you who never had a bid before what happens is the price goes near the bid.

If it goes higher the market thinks there might be a rival bid.

You can take a lower price before the shares leave the market or get the 480p in cash about
4-6 weeks later.

I'll probably gradually start to bank some of the profits especially as I do hold such a lot of them.

Bid number two was Darktrace which I literally mentioned the day before the bid!

Same applies, bid here is 620, you can take a lower price now, or wait for the full 620 in time.

Or, maybe wait for a higher bid, you never know.

I'm currently sitting and waiting on those just in case.

Also a bid for T Clarke but only had a small amount, profit £628 which has been taken.

Eck's update was ok but a bit disappointing so took a loss of £170.

Elsewhere some good gains... Cohort has breached the 800p level for the first time and
looks a ripe bid target, possible 1000p take out?

Telecom Plus has seen some big gains along with Costain.

With the break up through 1800, 2000p looks possible for Telecom Plus and there is a big dividend payment coming up.

Amazed to get such a big rise with Costain, but keeps being bought up.

Wow, two new listings coming up, slave labour crap clothes maker Shein and cheap credit
card sized computer maker Rasberry PI.

I'll look at Shein when I can have a good look at the figures but already dubious about investing in a Chinese company making throwaway clothes for landfill while paying workers next to nothing.

(No way I can visit China now, police will take me away on arrival with a copy of that last sentence).

(I didn't want to visit anyway so nah).

Raspberry Pi? Depends on the float price. Maybe valued at £500m?

Profits around £30m which doubled from last year. So far I'd be in but there is a problem.

It says profits "will be lower" in the next 2 years. Hmm, now not so sure.

Buy a company with two years of lower profits and higher costs?

I'll need some talking into it though doubtless the price will go higher whatever due to the excitement of a new listing.

I have a suspicion after a good year some out there fancy cashing out for now.

Can you believe the US Market?

That idiot bloke that caused the silly spikes in Gamestop during covid is back on Twitter.

Cue a doubling in its price, bonkers! I've taken advantage.

More on this in my coverage of the US in today's email to email subscribers.

There's a fascinating new book on trading out called The Trading Game by Gary Stevenson, the number one bestseller.

Eye watering look at trading, greed and fear, similar in a way to The Wolf of |Wall Street.

He blows open the world of big trading, a world of crazy psychos, alpha males. The dysfunction, the madness, it is all here and a great read!!

I'm half way though and it is a real page turner.

SPREADBETTING
I discovered a SB firm that does just 0.6 on the FTSE and tight spreads on 100 and 250 shares, also handy right now if you are shorting given the such tight spread

Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.

Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.

Here's the link if you want to sign up, on this link the lovely Lorenzo will help out if you run into trouble or make a fat finger trade.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".

It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.

It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

One or two of you asked about how we got our car back after it was stolen, we used apple airtags, hide them in your car or under your bike seat and get your car or bike back, amazing.

The steering lock we were recommended and bought you can get from amazon, link here:
I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.

The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".

The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.

I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.

If you don't have Sharepad you can try a free trial using the link below, if you think it is useful after the trial you get a decent discount on the link and can pay monthly if you want.

For small caps try Spreadex say for the moment they will carry on with most of the shares so that could be another place to deal in shares IG won't.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
