SHARES RETREAT NEW SEPTEMBER DATE! Sep 10-13th
The original September retreat is sold out but we have 3 on a waiting list and we were wondering about doing a second one on Sept 10th-13th.
Retreat is three days in Palma discussing shares in groups and in 1-1 sessions with me,
mindset psychology with Elizabeth and physio, massage and or healing with Kalpesh.
We cover as much as possible from whatever is happening that week on live markets but with 1-1s I can cover anything you'd like and I examine your portfolios.
But the idea is also to have fun! So I'm quiz host on the first night, and we all go to a local
restaurant for dinner on the last night and generally have a great time together.
You get your own room in one of the lovely two bed villas next to a golf course and it's all peaceful and lovely. There's a pool right there, and in the main building there's a big heated pool with steam room and jacuzzi plus tennis and golf if you like that.
A lot of new friends have been made the last couple of years and we are getting a lot of people who are returning which is lovely.
If you may be interested in Sept 10-13th please email Elizabeth at elizabethburns2 for more details.

Enjoyed meeting some of you online on Friday.
A lovely group, some of you have also now booked the spreadbetting seminar and looks like
two of you are going to come on the September retreat in Spain.
Some nice ideas came up and thanks for all the lovely feedback.
Next beginner/improver is now June 21st with the spreadbetting one on June 7th.
See above for details.
It looks like we are going to head off for Marbella soon to re-unite with our son.
Our 19-year-old has been in Dubai for a while working for a property development company and being an entrepreneur obviously some side hustles too.
He now has a work permit and is very happy there.
But of course we haven't seen him for a while so we're looking to spend some days with him in Malaga.
He'll fly there from Dubai to meet us there.
Given the chaos and strikes of various bodies at Heathrow we'll be using the wonderful London City Airport.
You can park and leave your car pretty much right outside, and no worries with fluids and getting computers out as it has all new tech x-ray machines.
This does mean the next update will be delayed for a week and sorry about that!
The forecast here looks grim, can't say will be sad to leave the UK behind for a bit.
We'll be going to a lovely vacation club which has great spacious villas.
Looking forwards to time with our lad. It's sweet as we went on loads of holidays there when he was a kid.
He is determined to make millions by the time he's 25. He's do determined maybe he can do it.
He's never been interested in standard University then a career thing.
As he says, fine if you want to be a lawyer or doctor or scientist but he just wants to start businesses!
Off to the theatre tonight (darlings!) to see a friend in the play "Power of Sail".
It's on at the theatre "Menier Chocolate Factory."
Sadly I don't think that means there'll be any twixes there.
Anyway it's a moral thriller with a twist.
A spot to eat after. Should be fun.
Hope you all enjoy the May bank holiday and just maybe it won't be a washout.
If it is afraid I won't be crying from Spain..
Next update will be delayed a week on May 16th.
Thanks for the feedback from recent events.
Gary:
The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.
Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.
The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."
Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!
Dave:
I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!
I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."
Phil:
The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)
As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.
You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!
Naked Rambling
The Welsh Government has changed its mind on its 20mph blanket speed limit.
Looks like a lot of 20's will go back to 30.
The whole of London is pretty much 20 now, making it hard work to drive anywhere.
20 is fine for the smaller side roads but not for major ones.
On the big roads we have near my abode everyone ignores it and does 30, including the buses.
Surely also it seems ridiculous for anyone to have to go 20mph at 1am?
I'd have thought a sensible measure would be a general "add on 10mph" to all speed limits
between say midnight and 7am. Or even 8pm-7am.
A bit feeble to see a gym and a pie maker fighting it out for Lord Sir Sugar's £250,000.
Where are the new fresh ideas? How about some exciting new tech?
I mean, really. A gym or some pies.
Nothing wrong with a gym or a pie, it's just that there don't seem to be any real new ideas coming up in the UK.
Look at all the tech start ups in the US. There seems hardly any action in the UK.
I can't even remember the last time a UK tech company got listed.
Angela Rayner calling Rishi Sunak " a pint size loser" was pretty distasteful and highlights what's going wrong in British politics.
If she'd said that in any other workplace there would have been disciplinary action.
It isn't just her. The childish "ya boo" name-calling politics right now is simply awful.
I know they are all thick skinned and it's "bants" but seriously at the workplace of our leaders?
I say less bants there and more serious discussions.
As Logan said on Succession "You are not serious people".
And surely we need some serious people to run the country?
Fallout ***** Amazon
Best series of the year to date.
A bit like "The Last of Us" it is based on the game Fallout.
I have no interest in games but you don't need to here.
It's super fun all the way through with some great lines and jokes both spoken and visual.
Premise is a nuclear war in the 50s and now 200 years later the rough live on the streets while the ex rich have vaults below.
There are plenty of fun 50s tunes in the mix too and the cartoon violence is, well, just that.
The Regime ** Netflix
A political comedy written by a Succession writer about a despotic regime starring Kate Winslet? Can't wait.
What a terrible disappointment though.
Winslet works very hard but the truth is this one isn't sure of where it's going and some of the lines are terrible.
Gave it till the end of episode two but then gave up as it hadn't improved.
Wafer thin characterisations though Winslet does do good bonkers.
Pinball: The Man Who Saved The Game Amazon ****
A very cute film. The true story of a pinball fan who persuaded authorities to end the ban on pinball.
I never had a clue pinball machines were banned for decades in the states over gambling fears.
The fan demonstrated pinball was a game of skill not chance and therefore should be legal.
In a great sequence he persuades the authority by playing it is skill and gets the ban overturned. Bit of a sweet romance thrown in there too.
A kinda Sunday afternoon after a big lunch movie.
Baby Reindeer **** Netflix
Based on a true story when a bartender gets stalked by a woman and things turn nasty.
It's interesting as the male lead here isn't the goodie and the stalker the total baddie as he does lead her on even on discovering she spent time in jail for stalking.
He's also a total wimp which makes it even more interesting! A fascinating watch.
Jimmy Carr Natural Born Killer ** Netflix
I fancied a bit of edgy comedy. I like the idea of breaking boundaries and taking the p1ss out of anything.
Problem here is, the edgy jokes are really boring!
There's a horrible 10 min section where he gives sex advice to a poor teenager.
But he comes over like creepy old uncle.
There are a couple of sharp lines but on the whole the effort to be taboo busting hasn't resulted in anything that's actually funny.
BOOK REVIEW, NEW ONE FROM DAVID NICHOLLS *****
Famous author David Nicholls has a new book out this week, just finished it and highly recommend!
He wrote One Day which was on TV recently and also Us and Starter For Ten.
His new one is about the world of 30s/40s relationships. Recently divorced pair go on a long hike across
England with some others.
It's a lovely world to be in, and a great read, I won't go into it any more for risk of spoilers.
I expect it will be a TV series next year.
I got mine for half price just a tenner for the hardback which is great value: link:
>
You can also get it as an audiobook to listen to instead for free as there is a free trial with two free books, link here:

Poor old Biden managed to read out the word "Pause" from his autocue.
I remember Jeremy Corbyn did similar except slightly worse.
He read out "Pause for applause here."
Rebel Wilson" (?) claims a British Royal invited her to a drug fuelled orgy.
I have to say I feel slightly jealous.
No-one has ever invited me to take drugs or have an orgy so how boring am I really?
Do you think I should try some drugs and an orgy?
Or as a beginner take it slowly and do the drugs and an orgy separately?
Drugs first or orgy first?
And why has no-one invited me? "Don't bother inviting Robbie to the orgy he is way too dull."
I have had a threesome once though so nah.
Mind you it wasn't a great success as I didn't get much of a look-in.

MARKETS
EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Naked Trader Radio Show:

Includes lots of chat about shares, scams, how to be a dragon to make money. Plus I am joined by AI robot Eli.
There's a quote from some money expert and I can't remember who.
Something along the lines of the cost to making money on stock markets is putting up with volatility.
We've seen a lot of that this week.
The US markets have had a crazy up and down time.
What happens next? I guess it's down to interest rates and when they are going to be cut, and the path of inflation.
Also is AI really all that, or not?
Will the war get worse or won't it?
I wish I knew but I don't have a clue.
Some rather nice trade ideas came up at the online seminar. Some for now, some when the price is right.
Some fab people at the online event, all ages 25-75 and though we are all looking for different things investment wise depending on our age, in the end, we can all invest wisely!
Thanks for the feedback like this from Ben:
Thanks for the notes, I was thoroughly impressed.
Honestly it was the best seminar I have ever attended and I truly believe it was an excellent investment in myself."
Thanks Ben and to others of you who wrote. It makes me feel very happy especially as you now realise a lot of work and effort goes into them.
If you'd like to come to the next one it is June21st, details at top of diary page.
Look forwards to seeing some of you for the spreadbetting seminar and one or two at the September retreat in Spain.
And thanks to Elizabeth for her hard work on them and running the chatroom.
Ok, onto to some buys and sells.
Darktrace came up on a number of share screens at the online seminar including my dash for cash screen on Sharepad which keeps coming up with nice winners.
(You can get a 14 day free trial here for Sharepad:

My screen is on the home page, but you need to scroll down.
This is almost the Uk's Nvidia dealing in AI. Though its speciality is cyber security.
I admit to being a bit suspicious of AI and whether it's just overhyped so when we were looking at it I was rather expecting to go "No, too risky or overvalued."
But to my surprise it did look like a buy even though pe is over 30.
That's because it might be worth paying a premium for what looks like fantastic growth.
Forecasts are 50% increase in profits for 2024 and 25% for next year.
And I think the giant cash pile needs considering too.
A few days ago a very bullish ahead of expectations statement.
It has just launched its Active AI Security Platform improving security across many apps.
Downside is it is volatile and if there is any weakness or doubt in any way in the future the shares would tank quickly.
But for now, I am in and will try and hold for some time in an isa.
Begbies Traynor came up at the seminar and I got a few at the sell price live using DMA.
My price is right at the bottom of its support level which makes it easy to set a stop not' far below the buy.
Level 2 looked very strong with plenty of buyers around the 100-103p mark.
I have discussed this insolvency practitioner a few times so look back in the archive for more if you'd like.
But for now looks like good value at around the current price.
We had a look at Mitie at the online seminar and on the day I was quite keen on the fundamentals but there seemed a lot of sellers about on level 2 so I didn't.
Maybe the reason for the sellers is earlier this week there was a shares placing.
But the company looks worth backing despite some recent rises.
It calls itself the UK's "leading facilities transformation company".
Its statement last week was mitie impressive. Record revenues and boosted profits.
Also a £50m share buyback which should help to keep the shares buoyant.
it does carry some net debt but it's not too mitie in relation to profits.
Another share that kept popping up on screens at the seminar was Victorian Plumbing.
A bit of an overlooked one, it's the leading bathroom online retailer, don't get too excited now.
What I'm looking for here is a trade from the mid 70's back up to the mid 90's.
Profits are rising through higher margin own brand sales and it's opening a huge new warehouse to cope with demand.
Results are due May 28th which look like they'll be decent and the shares have drifted down from highs to what now looks like good value.
Be interesting to see if Vic's shares begin to climb in the run-up to results.
Recent buy Breedon blamed bad weather for problems early this year.
When we're talking "leaves on the line" I'm out for now for breakeven ish.
Sometimes when you get new info you have to change your mind even if only just bought.
I bagged some profits on the QQQ for £304.
IG ISA/SHAREDEALING ACCOUNTS:HAVE YOU BEEN AFFECTED BY COMPUTER GREMLIN ?
Looks like IG's computer has taken money mistakenly from some accounts. Spreadbetting accounts NOT affected.
I do feel it is my responsibility/duty to alert my readers to this.
Here is the story: One of my readers contacted me to say IG had taken money from her IG Isa.
I checked - same thing had happened to me, and another reader too.
They took about 3.5k from me, the same from her, and 16k from another reader.
Reason? Their computer went crackers and on some accounts credited the same sale twice on April 11th.
That was corrected quickly and on the same day, which is fine.
But on the 16th the computer threw a wobbly and decided the correction was wrong and withdrew sale proceeds.
The call centre guy (who was lovely) when I called confirmed this had happened but told me (and my readers) the money would be credited that day or the next.
It wasn't. Nor the next day. I called again.
He said maybe about 50 clients were affected.
He said he was sorry but the money would be with me that afternoon. They were refunding it in alphabetical order and as a "B" I am up there.
But no refund that day or the next day. Or to my readers.
What worries me and my readers is I would never have realised the money had been taken if the reader had not emailed me.
And could it me more than the 50? It seems odd it is taking so long to find and refund.
HOW DO YOU CHECK IF MONEY IS MISSING FROM YOUR ACCOUNT?
I suggest the easiest way is check your pdf statement sent to you on email dated April 17 for transactions for April 16th after market close around 5pm.
If you see a "correction" and some money taken out, it isn't right, so call them. And let me know if you find anything.
I know it was just a computer error and I like the IG isa and the call centre people are nice but they should have sorted this out faster and contacted everyone affected the moment they knew.
I have no doubt customers will get repaid. The money wasn't taken on purpose.
But they should have told customers about the problems.
And letting customers wait more than a week and more for refunds isn't right.
My two readers have still not had refunds despite promises. I do feel some compensation is due to all affected.
I have handed the story to the Financial Times who've phoned my reader. So maybe that will help though no idea if the FT will publish anything.
One thing that comes out of this for me is our over-reliance on thinking computer has got it right with our accounts with all brokers and banks.
Let's face it, very few of us honestly check it's all correct and frankly I hardly ever have assuming it's all correct.
I'm going to start taking statements a lot more seriously from now on.

SPREADBETTING
I discovered a SB firm that does just 0.6 on the FTSE and tight spreads on 100 and 250 shares, also handy right now if you are shorting given the such tight spread
Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.
Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".
It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.
It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

One or two of you asked about how we got our car back after it was stolen, we used apple airtags, hide them in your car or under your bike seat and get your car or bike back, amazing.
Amazon have them, link here:
The steering lock we were recommended and bought you can get from amazon, link here:
I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.
The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".
The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.
I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.
If you don't have Sharepad you can try a free trial using the link below, if you think it is useful after the trial you get a decent discount on the link and can pay monthly if you want.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
