Maybe you want to finally decide to manage your new isa with more discipline!

Those of you attending should get a questionnaire to fill up over the weekend, please fill up if you can spare time as it helps me to know what you would like to cover live.

I do hope we find some nice trade ideas.

Meanwhile already booked some spreadbetting bosses to chat during the spreadbetting seminar on June 7th.

Really looking forwards to this one and uncovering some great spreadbets both short and long and looking at how to play the US market with spreadbets.

Spring has arrived with hope of new energy, life, sunshine and fun.

Kind of makes you think about changing things.

We were vaguely thinking about switching cars.

Didn't take long with a car salesman to think "actually let's not bother!"

We have a Lexus RX which we've had for some time.

Thing is though it's a massive car and we don't go on such long journeys now our son has left school and we don't have to ferry him all over the place to football matches.

We rented a T-Roc convertible in Spain and quite liked it.

There was a new one at a dealer in Battersea and we went down to see it. Quite nice.

The salesman was pretty rubbish though and too quickly tried to put pressure on us "to secure a deal today".

He offered a weak price for the Lexus in part exchange. Then messed around with the price.

Suddenly there were add ons like insurance against a kangaroo running out in front of the car (excluding Australia).

Of course he didn't want a cash deal, they went to get you on finance for the lovely commission.

We thought "sod this" and decided to keep it and then in a year switch to the smaller new Lexus which has just arrived on the scene and picking up good reviews.

It's crazy to buy a new car as just a year later the price is always loads lower.

My first ever car was a Hillman Imp.

Bought it in cash for £100 from the security guard at Burberrys where I was working as a summer job when a student of journalism.

It hardly ever worked. It didn't like going up hills and it didn't like the rain.

I spent a lot of my student days at journalism college sat on the hard shoulder of the M11 awaiting rescue from the AA.

It ended its days just south of Paris when I foolishly drove it abroad.

I dumped it on a country lane and legged it.

Six months later, it turned up outside my parents' house, the AA somehow had brought it back.

I wonder if I had kept it it would probably now be a "classic" and worth 50k.
Thanks for all the lovely feedback from the last seminar.

Gary:

The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.

Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.

The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."

Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!

Dave:

I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!

I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."

Phil:

The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!

Naked Rambling

Oh, hang on just had a whatsap message.

A lady called Vikktoria says she met me a while back, and she thinks I am very handsome and perhaps we could meet up?

I don't really remember her at all.

But she must remember me and she is so right on the handsome.

I definitely am and of course she must fancy me. After all, who wouldn't!

Of course being bald always helps as women know men with hair are disgustingly unhygienic (and lazy).

Another message.

Why not send me a picture of your cock, big boy?" she has now asked.

What shall I put? Here we go.

Good idea, will you send me a picture of your tits then by return?"

I mean, fair enough right? Quid Quo Pro (whatever the hell that means).

She replies: "Yes of course, but send me your cock first."

I'm not really sure. I have never sexted before.

But all the young ones do it now, surely time to give it a try!

Another message from Vikki.

I promise I won't blackmail you with it or anything like that."

Oh, all right, well why not?

Hang on a minute, or a while as it takes some time to get the big boy ready.

There we go, it was hard work getting the whole of it in the shot.

I wonder if I have to include the dangly bits as well. Maybe not.

I will if she asks for them.

There we go. Send!

She's gonna love it!

Wonder where me and Vikktoria will meet up?

Maybe the Travelodge in Acton?

Oooh, another message.

Oh. If I don't send her the phone numbers of all my contacts in the city she will blackmail me.

OMG how could I have been such an idiot!!

I better do what she asks. Be embarrassing if people knew what I'd done.

I'd never be able to show my face in Tesco ever again.

I'm caving in.

Ok sending you a list of the most important people I know."

I don't suppose I get to see your tits now?" I've added. (Don't ask don't get).

Vikktoria messages back.

My name is Viktor and I work for Russia you moron. You are mine now."

By the way your tiny cock looks horrible."

Just as well I'm not a member of parliament or something or have any knowledge of state secrets!

Of course being important figures of state they wouldn't fall into the same trap as me.

If only I was sensible like our leaders. Never mind.

I'll know better next time and have made a note to self.

Don't send pix of your bits to strangers who ask".

Right, better send my contacts to Viktor in case he gets nasty.
.
A lovely message from a 90-year-old trader, though tinged with sadness.

Dear Robbie:

Wanted an old telephone directory - found it on a top shelf - pulled it out and got hit on the head by a book "The Naked Trader 4th Ed" - I still have the bump on my head.

In my 90th year, still trading, friends have all died, need a hobby.

I got fed up paying 4% for no returns on sums well into 6 figs from financial advisors.

Had forgotten about stop losses have re-read snippets from the book most useful re-read for years."

What a lovely message. So glad he's found something to do.

It must be horrible to be older and lost all your friends.

Said reader has an open line to me whenever he wants some help.

Age catches up with us fast, enjoy while you can.

I do chat to lonely older folk for Help The Aged.

If you want to get involved as a phone volunteer contact them or silver line.

If you need any help or tips re talking to phone friends let me know.

Myself and Vera enjoy in particular dissecting the behaviour of her neighbours.

In particular, nosey Alan and Lynn, whose sons keep smoking weed outside Vera's front door.

I am lost for words! Scrabble is changing to "become more inclusive and less intimidating".

Yes, folks scrabble is going woke!
.
There will be a simpler board which "demands" less word knowledge and encourages collaboration rather than competition.

Wow. This must be the best new example of dumbing down.

No to competition and no winners and losers! Let's all be nice to each other.

More evidence that we are in a race to the bottom.

Work from home", just sit on your phone and watch cat vids all day and don't bother to challenge yourself or others.

Anyhow for you scrabble players if you want to play a Q without waiting for a U.

Here are some allowables!

Cinq, Qadi, Qaid, Qats, Qins, Qoph. (Do not tell the Mrs about these).

I am dying to use niqaabs for a 7 letter but not managed that yet.

Scoop **** Netflix
One of the eagerly awaited dramas based on Newsnight's car crash interview with the giant car crash "randy" Andy.

The main angle is though how it all came about via Newsnight's booker played by Billie Piper, portrayed as working class made good looked down on by the sneering Oxbridges of Newsnight.

Billie wins through by being down to earth with the randy one.

Very entertaining and this will be totally different from the upcoming Amazon version produced by Maitlis herself.

Gillian Anderson plays a decent Maitlis though there is a touch of Thatcher in there.

Maitlis claimed she didn't bother watching this. Of course she did the minute she could!

(It's like people saying "I never google myself" when obviously they google themselves daily).

She's helping to produce Amazon's rival tale due out later this year.

The Hotel Inspector ***
Alex Polizzi can't be arsed to remember the name of the person she's trying to help.

After being told the name from then on the person become "dahling" or "dahlings".

This first ep is weird: it's not a hotel, it's a tiny cafe in the middle of nowhere, how is that a hotel?

With little effort she sets a hapless couple up with a dire pitch selling paninis at a racecourse.

There's a brief scene of her scrubbing down a table as if she'd been doing it all day.

I suspect mostly whoever she spends ten minutes helping ends up going back to their normal.

The Dropout **** BBC 1
Super series in an off peak slot so you might have missed it.

Chronicles the fascinating real-life story of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes' attempt to revolutionise healthcare after dropping out of college.

From being worth billions she loses the lot after it's found the tech is a lie and doesn't work putting millions of patients at risk.

Great portrayal of a single-minded sociopath by Amanda Seyfried and her determination to believe something that wasn't true.

Also shows how investors can pile into a "story" share. If the story unfolds said investors get a kicking.

Curb Your Enthusiasm ***** Sky Comedy

The dreaded day has come, it is the end of so many years of hilarity with Larry.

The finale is a mirror of the Seinfeld one. But this time it worked out.

Full of cameos from the past and lots of goodies.

I'm 76 and never learned a lesson in my life," he tells a kid.

And he's right. None of us really learn much however old we are.

Those of you who loved Curb will miss it like me but the show was marmite.

You either got it and appreciated, or you didn't.

It signals the final end of comedy which can address and take the p1ss out of anything.

Boo hoo, RIP Larry. You were pretty, pretty good.

I've tried the Japanese methods of writing down your grievances on paper and then shredding it.

Apparently you have to destroy the paper you wrote it on.

I spent weeks writing down grievances (there's a long list) but lost the paper.

Does this mean I'm now screwed? Will my grievances hang over me foreever until I find the lost paper?

And really hope the neighbours don't find it.

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Markets are waiting for some idea of where interest rates are heading this year.

We await all kinds of figures from the states.

It gets confusing. One minute it's ok in the US if job figures are strong and inflation doesn't matter so much.

The next it isn't because inflation won't come down.

And maybe rates are coming down, or maybe they're not. Go figure.

More on my US trading in the Sub email, if you are interested, mail me for details at robbiethetrader with "sub mail" in the subject line.

Hey! Would you like me to tell you about an exciting company with AI that could double!!

Or an oil company that has amazing tech!!

Or a penny share that might triple next week!!!

You would? Sure you don't want to know about a construction materials group?

Without any AI? No sign of AI at all either?

Oh well, I am just one great disappointment as one of my teachers always told me.

Anyhow I don't care and I bought some Breedon this very day.

After a pretty dull 2023 (obviously no AI, duh!) things are looking up (as much as they can for dull old construction materials) .

But it's reported record revenue! Ahead of upgraded expectations!! And a bigger dividend !!!

I don't know why I bother. I know you already moved on hoping there is a much more exciting share pick lower down.

In fact I'm not going to talk about its promo to the FTSE 250 after moving to the main market or its acquisitions or anything.

Why waste my time when you never read the last 5 sentences?

You are so transparent.

Maybe this one is more exciting. But maybe not. Still no AI, or blockchain from this old git.

Cab Payments, a money mover, is a weird one - an abysmal IPO at 335p, shares sank to below 100p.

However, there are signs of life here with a statement last week its Dutch segment has won a payments provider licence which means it can provide services in Europe.

It seems quite excited by this calling it a "substantial growth opportunity".

It is also trying to win a licence in the US.

The market views it with some suspicion given its poor initial performance as a listed company.

But if suspicions are unfounded, and going on prospects and figures the shares could be worth double.

Cashwise Stockopedia reckoned it had loads of debt and Sharepad loads of cash.

I figure neither of them are right.

I tried to figure it out myself which is dangerous but it says "the group remains debt free with a highly liquid balance sheet".

Near the bottom of its statement it said it had cash and cash equivalents of £658k.

After all that I think it is worth a wary buy because the upside looks more likely
than downside. And that upside could be big if the figures and forecasts are correct.

It is highly risky though and a stop is hard to place given its volatility. I proceed with caution!

I added some more Alpha Group International after it confirmed it is going for a full listing from AIM next month.

This means it will get into the FTSE 250, meaning funds will have to buy in lifting the price further.

I also wanted to buy before the promotion because after that stamp duty will be payable on buys.

I now think it may have further to go than I originally thought and now targetting a breakout to 2500.

Defence shares got hit this week.

Why? Well, one Goldman Sachs analyst reckoned ratings were "overstretched."

This one person caused falls in all defence shares.

I still find it amazing one person with one opinion can murder share prices of even big shares.

Staggering, and goes to show we are all but sheep and one person's opinion is so important just because he works for a big bank!

Usually what happens in these cases is the shares tumble and then just go back up to where they were in a week or two.

I have big positions in BAE but only one got hit by a trailing stop to bag a profit.

The rest which I mainly bought in the 700s stayed open as the trailing stops in those are far away.

I bought back the stopped out BAE position for a likely rise in the next few days.

An important point to note with BAE:

It will likely fall 18.5p at start of play next Thursday (18th) when it goes ex dividend so be careful where you place stops!

Remember you get that 18p in cash on in your account on June 3rd or straightaway in a spreadbet account.

We'll be hunting for new trade ideas at the online seminar next Friday (19th).

Interested in a live day with me? Mail at robbiethetrader with "online seminar interested" for details.

I took losses and profits on some site share positions in a general downdrift.

Sometimes it's worth having a clearout of underperformers, like a spring clean and concentrate on the rising ones.

Eye went for a loss of £78 and a profit of £ 859. Bks short was closed for a loss of £135.

Bytes ended on a profit of £410 and loss of £129. Ams profit of £802 and Mony a loss
of £507.

SPREADBETTING
I discovered a SB firm that does just 0.6 on the FTSE and tight spreads on 100 and 250 shares, also handy right now if you are shorting given the such tight spread

Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.

Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.

Here's the link if you want to sign up, on this link the lovely Lorenzo will help out if you run into trouble or make a fat finger trade.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".

It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.

It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

Buy and read! Amazon link:

One or two of you asked about how we got our car back after it was stolen, we used apple airtags, hide them in your car or under your bike seat and get your car or bike back, amazing.

Amazon have them, link here:

The steering lock we were recommended and bought you can get from amazon, link here:
I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.

The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".

The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.

I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.

If you don't have Sharepad you can try a free trial using the link below, if you think it is useful after the trial you get a decent discount on the link and can pay monthly if you want.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
