Looking forwards to meeting some of you online Friday after next.

I hope you all enjoy it and we find some great trade ideas.

Those of you who want to come to the hotel one in December who haven't been to any seminars at all will need to do this one to qualify for the hotel one.

The hotel one is starting to fill up. Hoping to unveil some brand new share screens at the hotel and there will be one or two interesting guests.

As usual we'll have an Xmas lunch, lots of snacks all day and there's a drink on me in the bar after.

Interested? Mail me at robbiethetrader but you must go or have been to an online or hotel seminar so we are all on the same page. If you attend the online one next week you can do the hotel one. Like a starter then a main course!

The mrs is struggling to find me a present for my birthday next week.

I've offered up "socks, pants and a woolly hat."

And actually I do need pants as I have started wearing them again though mainly for special occasions.

I've just started a new book, something a bit different.

I'm aiming it at the "airport" market, a book that's easily read on a plane flight.

Pleased with the concept and it's interesting to write something totally fresh.

Got to be in the mood. I believe a lot of other writers.

Some days I can write loads and some days, well I can't seem to get motivated.

The idea behind this one is mainly about a buy and leave strategy which I think works nicely and how it could take to make that tax free million from isa allowances.

We're getting excited: tickets are booked for a couple of weeks in Dubai at the back end of next month to see our son for his birthday.

He left school and went straight to Dubai to find his fortune.

It looks like that's just what he's done, making decent money in property and next he is eying up buying land over there.

It's amazing really: he's shown some resilience and fortitude to set up over there at just 20 years old.

He's determined to be a billionaire and then buy Fulham Football Club though maybe he hasn't realised owners don't really get to choose the players.

We've not seen him since February though we speak to him every single day.

Apparently there are some deals on the way for big money and he says better this than his friends who are at uni doing not much except for copious drug taking.

He plays football once a week with the local emirates.
He is known as "Mr White Guy" (the only "white guy" playing)

There are shouts of "Pass the ball Mr White Guy.."

Mr White Guy is very popular.. He scored a hat trick last game!

Rather go Emirates but BA's business class for us was 4k against Emirates 6.5k so given we get a flat bed on both a bit better service and food on Emirates isn't worth the difference.

An author who attended the last seminar has written a great book worth buying if you are en entrepreneur, run a business or a company.

His entertaining book talks you through how to improve your brand and get noticed.

In "How To Start A Cult", Jody shows you how to attract a devoted following while you watch from the sidelines.

It's a great read! He doesn't know I am plugging him and he didn't ask me to.

Anyhow, we should be doing another retreat sometime next year.

People keep asking me which broker to use for their new ISA.

I use mainly Interactive Investor and Barclays and IG.

Interactive Investor is my favourite, I also have my SIPP with them.

Easy to use, and stop losses work well, plus cheap charges.

II has sent me a referral link if you want to try it for an ISA or SIPP.

If you add in more than 10k, you get a free year's subscription with them worth quite a few quid and I get £200 into my account.

Thanks for the comment on my show about songs you heard it on TV.

Some of you have sent me some songs you liked and heard on TV so it looks like I can do a second one.

It's fun to see what unexpected music you heard and enjoyed.

Looks like from emails Remi Wolfe's "Hello Hello Hello" was a favourite along with the Gustav track.

Lots of people trying side hustles at the moment.

Actually it was side hustles that helped me quit work for good in 2001.

My best was and still is Telecom Plus which trades as Utilities Discount Warehouse.

You can sell energy, sim cards, mobiles, broadband and insurance wfh.

You get commission per customer plus an ongoing commission every time they use
a service for as long as they remain a customer.

No stock needed, all done online. If you're good with people and don't mind a lot of
no thanks" could work for you.

My young son is doing it and is roaring away with 20 customers already.

You're backed by a billion plus FTSE 250 company and it's rated well by Which Magazine for good deals and excellent customer service.

If you think this could be a good side hustle for you, mail me with "side hustle" at robbiethetrader and will send you some info.

Thanks for the feedback from recent events.

Gary:

The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.

Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.

The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."

Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!

Dave:

I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!

I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."

Phil:

The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!

Naked Rambling

There's a lot of talk of money worries for many getting worse.

Not in London.. We were out and about on Monday night, the quietest night of the week for restaurants.

It was so busy. Indeed the restaurant we went into at 6pm said we were lucky to get the table without booking.

By 7pm it was packed, as was pretty much every other eatery.

People seemed to be spending away merrily.

The waiter said they were always booked up and even lunchtimes were busy.

What to make of this? Maybe it's just London.

Btw take no notice of all the fear stories regarding visiting London and how lawless it is.

We're out and about a lot, and never seen anything, all is relaxed and calm.

The only caveat is, probably don't obviously wear a nice watch and be careful using your phone.

What! An actual properly decent policy has been put out by one of the parties.

Hats off to Badenoch for the scrap stamp duty idea. I hope Labour copy it.

It would really grow the economy.

The housing market is stifled by this silly tax which in the grand scheme of things doesn't even raise that much.

The scrapping of housing tax would really fire things up.

So many new jobs right across the spectrum. All the tradesmen/women needed for house moves and repairs.

Then the estate agents, lawyers .. well the list goes on of all the new work that would be out there, stimulating a stagnant economy.

Which brings me to Reform.

It really needs to start coming out with policies other than immigration.

What will it do for tax? What ideas does it have? Let's hear them!

Can we hope this is the start of some big new ideas to promote growth?

Sadly for the minute all we have is "tax the rich" which never works.

Oh and, well, tax everyone more. How on earth does that stimulate anyone to do anything?

Waymo's driverless taxis are launching in London next year.

I'll pass thanks: can you imagine how many people will try and mess it up by chucking something over its cameras or seeing if it stops by running out into the road?

Also I can imagine being in one and seeing people making rather rude signs at you.

Celebrity Traitors *** BBC 1
Entertaining reality fodder, best recorded and fast forwarded through the uninteresting "tasks".

I expect the producers will do all they can to keep the big guns while getting rid of some of the lightweight.

Frauds ** ITV
Ho hum fare, with the cliched "last job before I die" theft scenario.

Can't quite bring myself to let go of all the unbelievable plot holes but maybe a bit of undemanding fun.

Our two very experienced leads give it their all but is it a comedy or drama?

Dragons Den *** BBC 1
After all these years it still has it, kind of.

There are too many pitches where it's obvious it stinks and no offers are going to be made.

Usually some eccentric with a nice little business (eg the dinosaur guy) which will never make it to a proper big business.

Also Touker and Sally seem to be redundant, no-one wants an offer from them. Time for a change.

How's about adding one of the Americans from Shark Tank, the US equivalent.

Slow Horses **** Apple
A new bunch or episodes for the lauded series carried by Gary Oldman's farty dusty character with a secret heart of gold.

Great characters, intriguing stories and a lot of fun though the tech guy's a bit irritating as is the show theme.

How are You (Alan Partridge) BBC 1 ***
Hit and miss return for the long-running character.

This time he's into mental health. Many very decent lines but also some clunkers.

Still, even middling Partridge is better than most comedy so worth a watch.
Best scenes are with his ex presenter partner, his jealousy is great fun.

Parents have been banned from attending their kids sports days in Merton after bad behaviour like stopping other kids apart from theirs winning race via interception!

This doesn't surprise me after years of watching my kid playing league football.

Fights between parents, abuse to refs and all kinds of bad behaviour.

Though one match was lightened up when the Mrs who didn't really understand football asked "Why is that man running up and down the touchline waving an umbrella?"

I spent all the years avoiding being roped into being a linesman.

I'd love to but my leg is playing up, can't run at the moment.."

NEW CLARKSON!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Markets

Things still seem to be going fine, despite a lot of doom mongery.

Over the weekend the papers were full of end of the world stories because Trump said he was going to stick 100pc tariffs on China.

Frankly if the Daily Mail reckons there is a crash coming it's probably time to buy.

If it says "Boom time, here are some tips.." It is time to sell!

The markets slumped late Friday when Trump claimed he was going to put massive tariffs on the Chinese.

It was obvious it was the usual Trump negotiating tactic but markets still wobbled.

A friend is dating someone "in US finance".

She decided to go round to his house unannounced on Friday afternoon hoping for let's call it some "afternoon delight".

He was all smiles when she arrived, sadly her arrival coincided with the Dow crashing as Trump announced his possible tariffs.

I don't understand it, he got really grumpy suddenly", she said.

She was unaware all his investments were dropping rapidly!

Afternoon delight was definitely off as said finance man got into a bad mood.

I'm now advising her the best time to go round is when the Dow Jones is up more than 200 points. Afternoon delight guaranteed!

She will now check the Dow Jones carefully before every visit.

After all the trades made after the investors retreat in Palma, a quieter couple of weeks but I have my list of "trades to be" from the event.

One such was Begbies Traynor. Share price was about 122p at the retreat, we liked it but figured it was at a short-term top with lots of sellers on level 2.

We decided around 110-112p was a trade to be price where it had formed a base previously and if that failed we'd get out quick and come back at 100p.

So as it got to one of the ballpark prices I bought a few. No good? Then get out quick and try again at a quid.

It's an insolvency practitioner so it does well when others struggle.

At a low pe and peg, a 4pc plus dividend and pretty safe, looks a good point to tuckaway.

We wondered too whether one day it could attract a bid from rival FRP which pretty much does the same thing but is larger.

I used DMA to buy Beg at the "sell price". More on how to use DMA to beat the spreads at the online seminar next week with hopefully a live example or two.

Tate and Lyle caught my eye after it slid.

It's literally halved its share price in just a few months and I eyed it up as a potential short-term bounce.

This isn't one I'd hold for very long, simply that after halving with a pe of just over 8 it starts to look a bit of value.

I noticed directors piling in after the not so great statement with some big buys.

My sweet plan is to hold for a shortish time for a bounce back to say around the 420p level and definitely before next results.

But certainly if it turns sour and starts to slide, I'll be out fast.

I did it mainly as a spreadbet as I said, this isn't really an isa tuckaway.

I added some Me Group International.

This photo booth and laundry operator looks great value after recent falls mainly due to the lack of interest in any buyer for the company.

Seems like a good point to dive in. If there isn't a bid, shares are good value anyway and if there is a bid should be a nice 30pc upside.

Of course nothing is certain in markets but be surprised if there was a profits warning and it has a nice healthy cash pile and the laundry business seems to be going well.

It's unusual to get a share that's put itself up for sale and encouraging a bid that's very good value even without a bid.

Some sells/topslices: The Marks and Sparks spreadbet went today for a £550 profit as it reached target and the top of its current range.

A small topslice for FTC for a profit of £1,932.

Klr reached top of its range for a profit of £409. Tcap went for £120 profit.

Had a good run with Chemring so took part profits of £6,128 from a longer-term position and £549 from the more recent one.

Total profits banked: £9,139.

Pets At Home got a bit of a boost from the review on vets today though getting close to banking profits there.

The press has been giving new IPO Beauty Tech a way too easy ride.

The story sounds great: British company doing well!

Trouble is the figures don't look so good and it would takes a lot of lip gloss to put a shine on those.

Last declared profits were only £5m so getting to a valuation of over £300m looks crazy even if it doubles or trebles that profit next time.

Peter Jones and Touker Souleman would give this one short shrift.

Get out of here and come back when you have a sensible valuation."

Shame - there are some IPOs on the way but they all seem priced right at the top so where's the profit for us investors.

Seems just a way for founder investors to get out.

When I can get a short on Beauty Tech I will be going in heavy, no-one is taking shorts just yet.

My Easyjet purchases of a couple of weeks ago proved well timed (by accident) and shares took off after a report a bidder might be interested.

You would think given Easyjet shares have recently been 650p that a bidder coming in here would be getting amazing value. Indeed 700p would be needed I think.

Even if bid interest fades, the shares are well supported in the 450p area.

I'm looking then to add some Easyjet especially if it slides a little further, a 3-6 month hold could end up with a nice upside.

I've been getting quite a few emails about gold, and commodities.

Because I know the website gets newbies coming in I keep any trades in these areas off the website and only on my sub email.

I really don't want to lead new investors into higher risk ventures until they are much more experienced.

So three gold plays will be on the sub email today.

However I will just discuss here how I play gold generally given it keeps going up.

For the short term anyway gold has been soaring and I've been taking advantage mainly with spreadbets as they are easy to do.

You can also get out easily if the price starts to slump using stops.

At the mo, it should be a question of how much I'm going to bank and I'm up about £14,000 from a £3 a point gold bet with spreadbet firms.

Been using TN and SCO for these gold plays as they both have lovely tight spreads.

I use the "Spot Gold" spreadbet. I just buy per point, as I said my stake is £3 pp.

For £1 a point gold bet TN asks for about £2,000 in your account, that's for non pro's.

In Sco, where I am a pro I only need about £400.

To be a "pro" you need to show liquid funds of £500,000 and confirm you have made a few spreadbets.

It's so easy to move stop around and I find it much better than say trying to actually buy gold.

Also, I don't want to be in it for too long, as inevitably at some point the shine will come off.

I suggest if you want to try this please ensure you know what you are doing, perhaps a read of my SB book link here

Link here:

Be careful re staking, TN does a guaranteed stop on it too.

Link:

But the good news is under legislation, you can't end up owing the SB firms more than you put in so the risk is reduced somewhat.

Those on the sub email will be getting three interesting gold plays and some US stock ideas.. if interested in the sub email mail me at robbiethetrader with "Sub mail interested."
But it is more high risk, so probably not for total beginners.

Anyway, thanks again to those of you who came to the retreat.

We'll be running one or two retreats again next year so if you want to be on an interested email me at robbiethetrader with "2026 retreats interested". We'll then put you on a list to contact next year and allocate places on a first come first served basis.

Probably be three days in May and three days in October.

Nice comment from Craig who attended the last online seminar:

Thank you for a great day on Friday. As a beginner, and half way through reading your Naked Trader book, I was a little apprehensive I would be overwhelmed with the day.

But quite the opposite, great pace and pitched at the right level for everyone online. Seeing Robbie select shares to investigate and even place some buys and top up existing shares has given me the confidence to do it myself.

I would highly recommend to any beginner and I will hopefully join again sometime in the future to top up my knowledge."

I've now finished reading The Trading Game.

Boy, what a gripper!

Definitely makes me glad I never ended up on a trading floor.

The cast of real-life characters there is not a pretty one!

Full time traders seem to be either alcoholics, drug abusers, loners, weirdos, passive-aggressive alpha males, know it alls or just a bit barmy.

And they are all certain of their own brilliance...

Frankly just check any of the discussion forums, all these characters are there..

Anyway, super read and a must buy for anyone interested in trading!

SPREADBETTING
I discovered a SB firm that does just 0.6 on the FTSE and tight spreads on 100 and 250 shares, also handy right now if you are shorting given the such tight spread

Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.

Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.

Here's the link if you want to sign up, on this link the lovely Lorenzo will help out if you run into trouble or make a fat finger trade.

It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.

The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".

The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.

I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.

If you don't have Sharepad you can try a free trial using the link below, if you think it is useful after the trial you get a decent discount on the link and can pay monthly if you want.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
