Thanks to all of you who contributed some excellent under the radar songs that you heard on TV plus three from Breaking Bad.
Hope you enjoy it.
Lots of excellent picks by you readers with some commentary from me and can you guess the classic TV series? Oh and a little mix at the end for some kitchen dancing.
If you hear a song on a TV show and like it, do email me with the details and will try and include it on the next show.
We're off to Dubai for the festive season, does that mean I'm a chav?
We're there to spend time with our entrepreneur teen who is working over there after getting a work permit.
Apparently the deals are coming in. We'll be getting a roast on the day itself and booked a roast style restaurant doing an Xmas dinner.
Lunch will be lobster roll and chips on the beach!
Honestly, I can't wait to get away from the rain and cold to get 25c and sunshine.
Emirates business class is fab, nice flat bed and super food.
A chauffeur to and from Heathrow and to and from the Dubai hotel too and a lounge.
And Emirates show premier league games live so I can sit up in the sky and watch the Fulham vs Southampton game followed by Spurs Vs Liverpool.
While away we have a lovely young couple staying at our place looking after the cat and painting the bedrooms, nice! (We are paying them fyi).
I've already packed, which was hard: 6 T-shirts, 3 shorts, 2 trousers.. Er can't think of much else. Oh yes, suntan lotion!
Our hotel is near where our son's flat is and it will be amazing to spend time with him as we haven't seen him since he started working there in September.
After that we have a massive trip to Sri Lanka in February, stopping off in Dubai to see him there and back.
What a lovely day at the hotel for the seminar.
I knew so many of you well already, there were some great ideas and banter all day.
It was great fun to meet up with so many who have been coming for years, in some cases for more than 15 years!
Who could forget the three wise men at the front?
Or the lovely Phil and his staff from Or Fiona's win?
And Kerry, I will leave you alone!
There was a lot of expertise in the audience, very helpful comments especially when some of you could comment from working in the actual industry we were talking about.
Most stayed behind for some drinks in the bar.. My bar bill was eye watering! How much??
Thanks to Vikesh for the lift home, I gather some were still in the bar at midnight and a small group at 2am !
A lot of you said you'd like another hotel event next year so I will try and plan one for the spring/summer.
Thank you all for coming and being such a great crowd, enjoyed chatting to many of you in the bar.
And congrats, many have been playing the markets for decades and have successfully negotiated the ups and downs.
A hamper arrives.
The card reads "Dear Suzanne. With sincere gratitude Ivan Rodionov and family"
I suspect it was meant for me as people send them to me and I get a few.
But I wonder if Fortnum and Mason has mixed up a lot of cards.
Assume if I got someone else's"¦ Someone else got mine!
Inside honestly the only thing in it I would use is the bottle of wine.
The usual unusable stuff which is going to the neighbours and friends.
Brandy butter. Salted fecking caramel biscuits. More awful biscuits
Plum flavoured".
The worst was "Christmas Green Tea".
Who drinks green tea at Xmas anyway and let's face it it's revolting.
Who would drink green tea over Yorkshire Gold? It's going in the bin.
I know, I sound ungrateful. I guess I am.
I got some Bose noise cancelling headphones, just amazing.
We're on a flightpath here, pop these in, no plane noise!
I find it easy to sleep on my side with these in too and they shut out noise like bin people, screaming kids, cats demanding early breakfast.
Great for travelling too, wonderful to get rid of the engine noise on a plane.
Easily linked to a phone for listening to podcasts, etc.
The ones I bought, link here:

I've got some £20 vouchers off Ocado deliveries for new customers, I get M and S food delivered from them, good service.
They also price match Tescos for other stuff. Mail me if you want a voucher.
Lots of people trying side hustles at the moment.
Actually it was side hustles that helped me quit work for good in 2001.
My best was and still is Telecom Plus which trades as Utilities Discount Warehouse.
You can sell energy, sim cards, mobiles, broadband and insurance wfh.
You get commission per customer plus an ongoing commission every time they use
a service for as long as they remain a customer.
No stock needed, all done online. If you're good with people and don't mind a lot of
no thanks" could work for you.
My young son is doing it and is roaring away with 20 customers already.
You're backed by a billion plus FTSE 250 company and it's rated well by Which Magazine for good deals and excellent customer service.
If you think this could be a good side hustle for you, mail me with "side hustle" at robbiethetrader and will send you some info.
Thanks for the feedback from recent events.
Gary:
The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.
Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.
The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."
Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!
Dave:
I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!
I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."
Phil:
The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)
As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.
You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!
Naked Rambling
I only got to day 7 of "Whamageddon".
That's avoiding hearing Last Xmas by Wham.
I was doing well until I went to a friend's party in town, one of those tourist cycle things pulled up next to us and you guessed it, Last Xmas on rotation.
I'm so sick of this song after 35 years of it even a few seconds of it brings me out in spots.
How can it be number one AGAIN??
Surely over the years everyone who wants it has bought or downloaded it?
Meanwhile the BBC is refusing to play the current number one download "Freezing This Christmas" by Sir Starmer and the Granny Harmers".
Taking the p1ss out of Sir K is not allowed on the BBC though if it does become the mainline number one will it still really not play it?
Uk pubs are running out of Guiness - quick get some while you can.
It reminds me of a seminar I held in Dublin.
Stupidly I offered a free bar after the event.
Unknown to me the whole bar cottoned on "Just say naked trader for a free drink"
was the whisper going round.
1,300 pints later I sadly came away from the event nursing a massive loss on the whole thing.
Strangely, I never did a seminar in Ireland again.
We are in the hellish space of Xmas TV which is all total crap.
You really do need a streaming service to get away from it.
Some nice thoughtful sci fi about in Silo and Severance.
Silo **** Apple
Superior Sci fi continues to intrigue as Juliette battles to get back to her silo before are likely rebellion sees her old pals die.
Lots of twists and turns with Bernard turning out to be a fantastic baddie.
Or is he really a goodie?
Severance **** Apple
Excellent thoughtful "what if" sci fi. But I suspect you'll either love it or hate it.
Premise is a brain chip is installed so you are split into two, worklife and other life.
You have no idea what you do at work known as an "Innie" (work) and your "outie".
What if you want to leave? Lots of moral and ethical dimensions explored, if you liked the film John Malcovitz you will love this. A new series starts in January,
The Day of The Jackal **** Sky Atlantic
Great entertainment except Eddie Redmaine, well, he just doesn't come across as a cold hearted killer.
Still, lots of fun if you ignore all the many plot holes.
And a nice look round a fabulous house where a lot of the action takes place.
The Sticky **** Prime
The crazy story of how thieves stole Canada's valuable maple syrup reserve is a bit of fun.
Stars Jamie Lee Curtis as the top baddie, its episodes are just 30 mins so if you're looking for some entertainment that has nothing to do with Xmas, this could be it.
Apparently air fryers can listen in to your conversations and report back to China.
Phew, luckily tried an air frier but then frankly couldn't be arsed to use it
So it's gone into the contraptions tried once and then not used under the stairs which includes an ice cream maker, fondue, pasta maker and rice cooker.
NEW CLARKSON!
Jeremy Clarkson's very funny take on farming is just out and is already in the top 20 books.
The latest escapades from the Diddly Squat farm.
Lovely entertaining writing while also giving the lowdown on all the hardships faced by farmers.
The book is very good value around half off the recommended price at just £11 here:

MARKETS
EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Markets
Instead of the usual Ho Ho Hos for a usual Santa rally it seems Scrooge is out early.
Just as normally shares would soar, the US crapped all over it by reducing rates but saying don't expect as many cuts as you think next year.
Cue boos and a fall in the Dow yesterday and the same for the FTSE today.
The US is trying to rally as I write, so maybe we can't write off a Santa rally just yet.
Quick look back on the year, well it's been a good one.
I'm not a spreadsheet guy but Barclays, IG and II seem to give some indication and I think it's for the year.
Barclays says I am up 28pc, IG 44pc and ii 39pc. No idea where the figures come from but gives some clue anyhow.
Share of the year was Iqgeo, it was my biggest holding, got bid for and personally collected £150k plus profit on it.
Other bids this year were Eckoh, Darktrace and Equals where I collected decent amounts too. Good has been bid for but not sure whether that goes through yet
No massive stinkers this year, there is usually one I get caught out on but not this time thanks to stop losses in good places.
Some very big gains from YU which has four timed and more.
My biggest holding now, Cohort has more than doubled and looks a long-term hold.
Other worthy winners a trade in Card, Games Workshop, Alpha Group and Filtronic have contributed to some nice gains.
Some shorts did very well too including Aston Martin and Spirax.
So happy with the year but never any room for smugness or complacency. Some commentators talk of a great year next year. I am not so sure and will stay vigilant.
If things turn bad I will consult the new book NT 6 and refer to the what to do if things turn down and follow my own advice.
The new Government does appear to have screwed up with the NI grab.
One suspects a lot of pub and restaurants will shut next year as well as retailers.
Higher costs could put up inflation which could dent interest rate cuts,
Let's hope not but next year could be a bit harder to make money.
Thanks to all of you who attended the hotel seminar and the online ones over the last three weeks.
An absolute shedload of fantastic ideas came up on screens and from your trade ideas.
I literally have enough ideas sitting there to last me a year, it means my research work is done for some time.
A lot of the trade ideas were "wait and see" and try to buy at the right time.
Congrats to Fiona for winning the best hotel idea and Grant at the online one, both of you won £100.
Such a lovely time at the hotel one, lots of banter, silliness but great work too.
Thank you all for your amazing input, especially the knowledge from some of you working in the industries we discussed.
You seemed to want another hotel event maybe late spring, will have a think about it.
It was lovely to see so many who've been coming to events for 15 years plus.
And nice to know you've got through all kinds of ups and downs.
One share was picked by 4 at the hotel seminar and 2 at the online!
That was Supreme and it proved popular.
There were a couple of very knowledgeable people who put a very good case for the company and I bought a few.
The company supplies wholesale all kinds of things : health products, vapes, drinks, batteries and lighting.
And it just bought the rights to Typhoo Tea which was a clever idea.
There's a new vape tax due but not till 2026 and even then unlikely to have much effect.
Management seems on the ball here and at a pe of under 10 and loved by the algos together with low debt could be a nice winner for 2025.
I've stuck some away from the isas for about a year unless question marks appear.
There's a 3pc dividend while waiting for progress and patience which I have is needed!
A higher risk idea is Fonix Mobile which came up at one of the seminars.
This one's done bugger all for some time, trading in a tight range but I've taken advantage of a bit of recent weakness.
There seems to be a bit of buying coming in.
It doesn't look that cheap but it has a nice cash pile.
It delivers mobile payments and interactive services and has excellent recurring revenues.
Key to share price growth from here is its current expansion in Portugal.
It has big clients like ITV and Children In Need. Worth a tuckaway I believe.
It tends to stop rising around 250p so a key area to watch.
Whitbread looks (sadly) like the short for next year.
And I've added some more short here - its hotels and hospitality businesses are going to come under pressure from various forces we all know about.
I'll be looking at shorting retailers, pubs and so forth in 2025.
Onto a bit of loss and profit taking:
At last the Equals bid has gone through, I can't see the point of waiting for the 5p dividend so finally cashed in and that's a profit for the website of £ 2,640.
Personal Group went for a profit of £1,130. One of the Alpha positions for profit of £671.
The most recent Bae trade got trailing stopped out for a loss of £21. FD went for a profit of £591.
The recent Volex trade is just about hanging on but getting close to getting stopped.
Spreadbets: Easyjet has gone for a profit of £1,675 and IHG for a profit of £7,932.
We discussed Costain at the seminar - hard to find much not to like about it and another contract today.
There is still the chance though that the US will shrug off the interest rate news as Trumpmania might trump it and carry on rising taking the UK with it over Xmas.
I lost £500 on the rally so far but maybe I might give it one more go.
As always, stick to a stop so you know your max loss.
A small spread helps: TN has just 0.6 spreads links here:
>
Probably right now stops not that far away in case the Scrooge Like behaviour continues.
I would also suggest getting my book on spreadbetting as it has loads on it.
This includes tons of worked examples, where to place stops and how to ensure you don't do your brains if it goes wrong.
Link:
I wish you all best of luck for the rest of the year and into January.
Always remember if you lose money it's not the end of the world and that family and friends and treating them well and kindly is the main thing.

I've now finished reading The Trading Game.
Boy, what a gripper!
Definitely makes me glad I never ended up on a trading floor.
The cast of real-life characters there is not a pretty one!
Full time traders seem to be either alcoholics, drug abusers, loners, weirdos, passive-aggressive alpha males, know it alls or just a bit barmy.
And they are all certain of their own brilliance...
Frankly just check any of the discussion forums, all these characters are there..
Anyway, super read and a must buy for anyone interested in trading!

SPREADBETTING
I discovered a SB firm that does just 0.6 on the FTSE and tight spreads on 100 and 250 shares, also handy right now if you are shorting given the such tight spread
Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.
Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".
It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.
It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.
The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".
The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.
I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.
If you don't have Sharepad you can try a free trial using the link below, if you think it is useful after the trial you get a decent discount on the link and can pay monthly if you want.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
