Thanks very much for your feedback to the NT Radio show 4. Glad you
enjoyed it! If you haven't heard it yet it is here:

Is that summer over then? That was quick and weird!
Spent a lot of it in the garden pretending to be in Spain..
it kinda worked. Actually secretly it was refreshing NOT
going on holiday this year. But do fancy it next covid willing.

Also met a few of you at the zoom seminars in August the
first and last ever ones in August!

Still strange meeting you virtually - but really enjoyed them
and all the chats we all had, the interesting live markets and one or two rather nice shares that came up!

Thanks for all the lovely feedback and been chatting to some of you since. Some very decent examples of live trading came up which was handy, especially the level 2 example of when not to buy.

Next Wednesday seeing some of you for the spreadbetting
seminar (Sep 9th) and more of you for the beginners and
improvers one the 23rd. Well, kind of "seeing you". Virtually.

There is still virtual space on both - I have two bosses
of spreadbetting firms to chat to us on the 9th and you
can speak to them directly. I hope to show you how not to
be scared of spreadbetting, how you can be MORE
disciplined using it and how to use it for longer-term
tax free share buys.

If you would like to spend the day with me and live markets
mail me at robbiethetrader with "Spreadbet or
Sept seminar interested". Still space if you want to do both
days.

We all know 2020 has been a sh1t year all round, now it just got worse for me- though potentially later - better.

Yes that is confusing, agreed.

But for some time I had a problem with my left leg as recounted here occasionally - I was
diagnosed a TFL muscle problem by various physios.

After faithfully doing loads of exercises for months but becoming more in pain I figured it just wasn't getting better so went for an x-ray.

And, bugger it, I need a hip op! No wonder I've been struggling. So though initially I was upset pretty quickly I realised this was going to be an upgrade and it was going to be nice to walk as far as I want without soreness.

So, I am awaiting a date! It's going to be a full replacement so I will be out for the count for 3-5 weeks afterwards but with lots of pysio help I should be hobbling around and soon enough be back up and running.

Luckily my right hip is all hunky dory.

So all in all a bit of relief because I was wondering whether it was ever going to get better.

In the meantime it gets slowly worse every day to the extent I now can't walk very far which is really annoying.

I wish I had got an x-ray earlier but the physios initial diagnosis of a separate muscle problem stopped me from bothering though my fault not theirs.

Anyhow for now it's painful to move around and I am hopeful for a date in October.

I can't say I'm thrilled to be having someone cut me open somewhere but it has to be done. In the meantime I shall try and not become a grumpy old git ! Trying only to take one pill a day as don't want to get hooked.

At last!! The kids are going back to school!! Let peals of sheer joy ring round parents all over the country.

After months and months of bored kids on our hands - sorting out online lessons, food, friends, trying to keep them out of trouble and all - we're FREE!!!

Yes, we can actually have a life again during school hours.

And it really is so needed by the kids. They've missed out on so much by being stuck at home.

Now we can only hope they get to stay there.

Our son went back today so it will be interesting to hear when he gets back how it all went. They were all told to take masks and they are supposed to be in a year "bubble". More next time.

We actually went to see an actual big movie in an actual cinema!!

It's been so long. And it was great to be back.

We went to see the back after Covid blockbuster Tenet. Every other row was blanked out and there was then space between everyone else.

This all worked well and it's nicer than before, no-one right next to you munching stuff.

Downside was having to wear a mask. Well, let's say some of the audience soon let that slide. But it's not so bad and you get used to it.

All in all it is lovely to have cinema back. As to the movie, I have no idea at all what happened or what the hell was going on at any point.

The whole movie was like a James Bond opening sequence. There was a baddie and a goodie though at least. Or was there?

Time went back and forwards - or did it?

So go but don't expect to get the plot - enjoy all the stunning special effects, they really are special. Maybe you will get the plot as it could easily me just being thick.

Thanks for all the feedback on the online seminars, latest
from David:

Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.

I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "ËœBetting'.

I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....

.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"

Naked Rambling

I'm not surprised people don't want to go back to work in their
offices and rather stay at home.

I've been doing it since 2001 and I never realised I was an early adopter of what would become a new trend!

I mean, who wants to spend valuable hours of life travelling back and forth every day.

Downside I suppose must be team bonding which never bothered me as I'm not a team player. Also we are social animals so seeing no-one bar a cat all day won't suit everyone.

And a lot of potential marriages will never see the light of day.

I suspect people will gradually drift back to the office but slowly and
office work may become part at home part at the office.

What this means for retail though can't be good.

Is Rishi Sunak going to become PM through sheer good looks?

Even my 80-year-old mother in law said he was "dishy" and it looks
like he'd get her vote.

Not sure it's such a great idea to whack taxes up. I would reckon
go the other way - at least for a year.

Why not slash taxes for all for one year in attempt to get everyone
really going for it and earning. This could surprisingly really
give the economy a massive push.

I suspect tax rises might not produce as much as they think as the
wealthy head off abroad or use other tricks.

The team we support Fulham made it back to the premier league through a playoff final. My son went crazy though even crazier when I jumped up shouting goal and it wasn't one.

There's only one problem - sitting through a whole load of losing games again. Arsenal first up. Let's hope the loss isn't by more
than five. At least there is always Aston Villa to guarantee one win!

Due to Covid the powers that be are considering allowing wedding ceremonies to take place outside, anywhere - no longer confined to register offices or designated places.

I forsee football weddings taking place before a game kicks off - the ceremony on the half way line.

There could be some downside as the crowd shouts "You don't know what you're doing...."

I Hate Suzie (****) (Atlantic)
This is a TV show on speed - and lots of other drugs. Billie Piper plays a manic actress who is hacked and pictures of her giving B-J's to someone who isn't her husband.

An incredible performance by Piper but by the end of Ep 1 I was knackered and it was all so mad I had no idea whether I liked it or not.

It slows down a bit next episode and then the next which improves things. Then it does gradually improve - but it is true there is not much to like about Suzie.

Mortimer & Whitehouse(****) (BBC 2)
On the other end of the scale this can be too slow!! Frankly I find the fishing bits boring but the honest views on life and all fascinating.

I'd love a cut down hour instead with the best bits of the views and older person's banter. But all in all it is very lovely and moving at times. I also wonder are they actually too young for this?

Dirty John (Betty) (****) (Netflix)
Gripping real-life drama based around the famous
Betty Broderick murder case.

Christian Slater is really great in this and plays Betty's
irritating husband perfectly. Best watched in one or
two hits.

Me and My Penis (*****) Ch 4
Well, that made me feel superior..

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

MARKETS

Naked Trader Radio show featuring lots of virus bounceback
share ideas, plus tips for newbies for beginner click here:

>
Well, strangely, not that much happened in August. On the whole markets trod water wondering what's up next.

It's the kind of market I like though - good shares are performing well and bad shares the opposite.

Obviously markets carry way more risk at the moment and there is always the chance of a sudden collapse in confidence.

I've stayed invested but very cautiously and ensuring most of my trades are in pretty liquid stuff.

I'd hate to be holding big stakes in anything very small as they're impossible to get out of should the sh1t hit the fan.

Personally the portfolio did ok in August, nothing sensational but it is up a few quid.

September is often a tricky month of ups and downs - usually more downs and sudden ones, if you are a beginner you may want to be cautious.

I've stayed clear of all the potential gambling candidates. My main thought is, if I buy this share could it go down 40% overnight on covid news?

Examples of those I'd leave alone but others would love as a gamble would be airlines and hotels and cruises and banks and covid potential and oil and property and.....

So what the hell do you like then Burns. Good question. I prefer things like computer games companies, gambling cos (people will still play and gamble whatever), things 5G related, defence shares, DIY companies. That kind of thing.

I reckon none of these will tank 40% overnight for example.

If you are a higher risk buyer you MAY hit the jackpot, say, should a vaccine be found. BUT is it worth the potential loss of capital should things get worse? There are also US elections, Brexit and economies in trouble.

Overall? I would say stay nimble, and cautious. Be thoughtful!

A mention that over in the US the bigger tech stocks are going
amazingly pushing indexes to highs.

How much longer can this carry on? If you are (well done)
taking advantage be careful! I have some exposure to things
like Apple and Microsoft via the Allianz tech trust.

Onto my market moves. I spent August in the garden pretending to be on holiday and tried hard not to look at any screens for very
long and only press a button if anything really decent came up.

But I did do two zoom seminars and things always come up at those I would have been too lazy to find from my lounger in the garden which I'd have been on otherwise.

Thanks to all of you for attending by the way and the nice feedback!

I bought some Next Fifteen (NFC) after a very upbeat trading statement.

I don't like buying early usually as the spreads are rubbish but tried a few attempts at getting some using direct market access and eventually got a decent slug.

This PR outfit's share price got hit badly by Covid and struggled to recover but looks now that fears were overdone and its next statement is likely to be really good.

It's always a tricky one to buy if the order book thins out the spread can get wide so I avoid dealing in it early in the day, it is definitely one to trade later in a day or use DMA.

I bought some shares in spreadbetting outfit CMC markets. (CMCX) after they came up at one of the seminars.

We discussed this a lot and the other SB firms at the zoom seminar in August coming to the conclusion CMCX was the one to go for.

All spreadbetting firms are going well, but we chose this at the seminar over IG and Plus as it has less question marks than Plus and seems cheaper than IG. We spent a lot of time comparing them and that was an interesting half an hour.

These firms need lots of market volatility to increase in value and really they ought to get that volatility for the rest of the year give the ins and outs of Covid.

All the firms were hit by regulatory new rules a while back but now that is under their belts spreadbetting firms look like a decent buy.

Today CMCX produced a very bullish statement and so far a nice profit is already established - well done all of you on the seminar who voted for it!

A speculative buy in Kooth (KOO) - this one has recently come onto the market and it's quite interesting.

Speculative because it's hard to really work out a value for it so this is a toe dipping to see how it goes but could be a nice longer-term ISA winner.

It provides online counselling services especially to the younger age group. It offers digital mental health services and a broad range of therapeutic tools and interventions to the health service. It also provides these services to businesses and charities.

The Company raised £16 million from the listing and intends to use the new funds to support its growth plans, which include investing in its platform and service offering and expanding within strategic markets.

A move to the US is on the cards which should be a big future growth market.
With property sales picking up it could be a right move to buy..Rightmove. (RMV)

I've bought some on the basis that it must be picking up a whole load of new action especially considering stamp duty cuts.

There's also a lot of news about of property prices surging and lots
of interest in buying and selling across the country.

As I mentioned further up to those who bother reading bits about my life (sure there are one or two would you believe it?) went to the
cinema for the first time in ages.

That's when you realise a movie like Tenet can only be seen on a
big screen. With a pile up of big movies like the long delayed new
James Bond just maybe there could be a movie renaissance this autumn.

So I have tentatively bought a few Cineworld (CINE). There is very high debt here so not my usual thing but it is on a real low and newspapers report there is some stake building going on and a potential bid at a low point.

So just a punt which might
pay off. I know it breaks my rules, consider it a spot of "entertainment". I would
still exit fast if it goes much lower than entry.

Added more to a couple:

This morning I bought some more IBPO. My reason to add was there was a sudden big dip. I hunted around for any explanation and I couldn't find one.

Ran through all the fundies again and it still looks cheap so I bought a few more, it is gradually climbing back up. Could just be a clumsily executed fund profit take. If it isn't then I hope I don't find out there was a good reason!

And added more to the Sopheon (SPE) position. The very
interesting news here is its partnership with the massive
Mondelez which is going live later this year with SPE's
Accolade platform.

Mondelez is a big deal - that company is massive. If this
is the start of other wins the price is cheap and having
this massive name on board is going to help.

A few profits and losses banked.

Flutter went on a good run and raced higher - in the
end a trailing stop banked the profits. Sadly the stop was some
way off the price and I missed at least 400 points of profit but
there we are. Profit for the site of £4,556. It's been falling recently
and eyeing up a new entry at the moment.
Profit of £675 and a loss of £250 taken on Asw. Got a couple
of very nice dividends too so ends well for now.

Also banked some FRP which reached target and wouldn't go higher
and looking to buy back, profit of £1.747. It's come back to a decent buying price at the mo after a statement.

Gtly: sold half personally and all for the site to bank for profit of £800. But potential buy back again here.

Overall it remains a time to "watch it" I think. A meltdown remains possible and as they say "be careful out there".

I would say for beginners especially no need to rush in. Take
it slowly and keep stakes low.

EXTRA INCOME FROM HOME

When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
