Thanks very much for your feedback to the NT Radio show 4. Glad you
enjoyed it! If you haven't heard it yet it is here:
>
Plenty of shares chat and some fun too. Entries are starting to come
in for the £100 comp - worth having a go as not many have bothered
and it remains open for a few weeks. Good luck it is not easy!
The zoom seminars have worked out well so far but we had to make an exciting
dash across London on Wednesday! I was amazed yet another online event sold out early.
All of us were getting on well and progress at the online event was good but approaching lunch when we started to get wi fi problems. You
know the sort! Picture started to freeze and all that.
Internet connection unstable" etc.
Bloody zoom and new technology, this sort of thing never happens at the hotel!
There's nothing more annoying than tech letting you down.
But we always have a reserve plan.
Shift the event from the house to the flat we own about 30 mins away.
An early lunch was called, a bit like when the cricket gets rain showers. We
were soon back up and running and no more problems from the flat. And from
now on we'll host the online seminars from there where the wi fi seems to be
more indestructible.
Thanks to all of you who where there virtually for bearing with us - we
stayed online for longer at the end to make up for the lost time.
I am sure the next one will be back to total smooth running from the flat. Thanks for all your kind feedback and some of you have already booked the follow up and see you all again for a more advanced session on the 29th!
Normally I wouldn't do any more seminars till September but despite
easing of lockdown there still is strong demand and the June one sold out early. So the next
overflow seminar for beginners/improvers is on July 15th.
Mail me at robbiethetrader with "July seminar interested".
STOP PRESS: THIS DATE IS NOW SOLD OUT, NEXT
BEGINNER/IMPROVER OVERFLOW DATE IS AUG 19TH OR
AUG 8TH FOR COMPLETE BEGINNERS SEE ABOVE
Those of you booked in should all be getting questionaires to fill up in the next few days
and grateful for any of you who answer them as it gives me
ideas of who you are and what you want.
There is also a new follow up date for those who have been before
to either the hotel or online, that's July 29th- mail for details.
Nearly there! From this weekend we can actually kind of go out again...
Except... what's going to be open? And will it be anywhere near the same?
One off menus, masks, distancing... well, going to try and find out.
I can't wait to go to a restaurant or a pub or anywhere! There are a lot
of ifs about the near future though and who knows how it will pan out.
I'd also love to see a movie. But doesn't look like any of the real
local cinemas will be open yet. Nor any sign of our favourite restaurants open either yet. But we will go somewhere this weekend and eat.
Anywhere!!!
I think we'll just be brave and do these things
even though apparently us bald geezers are quite at risk from the virus.
I mean FFS! Not only are we the last people you're allowed to take the piss out of,the virus has it in for us.
So I hope by the time I write next, we will have been somewhere and done something. We have masks on standby if needed.
Apart from maybe a short trip to Ireland it's unlikely
Our teenager has been struggling like all his year group. He had one day at
school (that's all folks till September). Apparently that was weird.
How do you motivate someone who just isn't academic from home? Difficult
for all. Oh, and there is no competitive sport. A really hard time for all adults with kids. Especially those in years 10 and 11.
Thanks for all the feedback on the online seminars, latest
from David:
Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.
I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "ËœBetting'.
I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....
.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"
Naked Rambling
Isn't it crazy to think the next President of the US will by mid term be either
76 or 80?
Nothing against age and experience.. but... well... surely such a post needs someone say 50s or 60s? And really. Are these two really the best out of everyone living in the US? Are they actually all they got?
At 80 I'd expect to be moaning to the doctor (if they aren't robot doctors by then)
every day about a new pain while being told it is time I stopped eating Twix.
Big condolences if you live in Leicester. Must be really terrible to have to go back into lockdown. Even worse if you have a business.
I guess this is the way things are going to go - local lockdowns across
the world.
Melbourne in Australia is among many local places facing this. Quite how to police it though?
Sad to see so many John Lewis stores closing. Even sadder that the virus brought forward the closures.
The stores are lovely and so are the staff and many face losing their jobs.
Problem is their stores and all stores and a lot of shops have had their day. The virus has just brought the fact everything will be online nearer reality.
A lot of high streets will just be turned residential and all we'll have left
are coffee shops, estate agents and the odd bookie.
The Luminaries (?????) BBC1
I dutifully recorded this costume drama. I usually sit through this kind of thing
with the Mrs so that when the car chase/violent/sex dramas come on, I feel like:
well come on, I did watch that costume drama.
I was all set to have to sit through six tedious episodes when luck struck. All the
reviews were terrible. Confusing time lines, too dark to see anything. "Let's give
this one a miss then." Yay !!
Alex Rider (****) Amazon.
A big surprise. It has the feel of a silly doctor who style drama for all the family.
It had me instantly hooked. That's despite a bonkersly crazy could never happen
storyline with dozens of plot holes. Forget all that just buy into it and it's great!
Teenager becomes spy and of course pretty much saves the hat maybe
but it feels fresh and fun. Supposedly for the whole family, it was in the end
just me and the laziest of the cats.
Perry Mason (****) (Sky Atlantic)
Just bedazzled by the amount of money spent on this. The period
scenes are stunning. Beautiful old cars and backdrops. The only
thing is I realise after admiring all that I'm not sure what happened!
It's that great actor from The Americans but I feel like he is still The
Americans character from time to time. I'm going to have to nip through
again to get the story straight!
Four In A Bed (****)
You just can't beat this for endless entertainment. Four rival B and B owners
do battle - the show's format means it pays to underpay your opponent which leads
to all kinds of underhand behaviour showing if it is one thing us Brits like, it's
getting our own back if we feel criticised.
All psychology is there: petty back biting, ego, self aggrandisement, (dunno it that's a
word but it makes me feel good) and most of all, jealousy! Jealousy leads to all kinds
of badness which I have experienced myself running this site..
Also a reminder why never to get into any kind of hospitality business: it is bloody hard work and never pays much!
Sky. Where the F is the new series of Billions????
I was interested when my copy of The Sun carried a "guide to the G Spot".
It claimed to be an easy guide but frankly it left me confused especially when something
called an "A spot" was highlighted. I'm afraid I gave up and had a nice up of tea
and a twix instead.

MARKETS
EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Put your hand up if you think the markets have been mad for some time.
Goodness all of you.. me too!
Despite all kinds of gloom around it carries on fighting back and a wall of
money comes in whenever there is any serious downside threatened.
Good news is bought up, bad news seems to be pushed into the background.
And actually looking at all the recent action although indices appear volatile it is all now in quite a tight range.
So my guess is the markets tell us things are about right for now and if you are one of those who tries to buy and sell tops and bottoms you might be wise to wait for an obvious break up or breakdown.
Today's job numbers give some ammunition to the bull case, well
for the next ten minutes!
For you share pickers it isn't a bad time as for right now the good ones go up and the bad ones go down.
I bought into Gateley (GTLY) something I hadn't come across before but this one popped up on a screen we looked at during last week's zoom seminar. (That one sold out, so an overflow event scheduled for the 15th July - see above somewhere for details)
If profit forecast are anywhere close, after some recent falls it looks like it
has headed into bargain territory. After all it has halved since highs well
into the 200s.
That means there is plenty to aim for with an initial target of 160p-180p looking
a reasonable one.
This legal and professional services group reckoned recently it was doing pretty well, virus or no virus. It's been buying up other companies to grow.
Debt levels are low but it has £20m extra to work with should the need arise.
Looks like a good chance to pick up quality at a bargain price! For me
it is also handy that it is very liquid so it is easy to buy and sell quite
big amounts.
I picked up a bunch of Kape. Those of you with long memories may remember
I made a lot on this a while back and banked a fortune as it doubled and more
for me quite quickly.
This one came up at the online seminar last week when we were screening and
looking for interesting shares.
I thought when I began looking at them they might be expensive and was surprised to see despite previous rises I'd taken profits on, they weren't.
The AGM statement showed the virus INCREASED sales! It is in a sweet spot
in digital privacy and I wonder whether at some point it might get eyed up
by a larger rival and snapped up. It's also got a new debt facility to enable it
to carry on fast growth.
One, I think for me to ignore any gyrations, relax with and keep in the isa for a
good stretch.
I topped up in 888.
Very pleasing results and another that could be in line for
being bought out.
The statement gave out the few words that us investors love "significantly ahead of expectations" .
While there is some wariness in the statement about future regulation, all in all this company is doing very well and you would have thought if it is bid for said bid would have to be in the 220-250 area.
I bought some more Avon Rubber (AVON ) now easily my biggest holding - in real life I hold more than £100,000 worth now as a long-term hold.
And hurrah!! I've mentioned a few times I hoped it would sell off its dairy business and today - it did! And got a good price!
It was always weird to have two totally different aspects to the company and wise to now concentrate on defence only. The dairy business I wasn't fond of anyway. So it has gone!
You might think, by the way that Avon is rated too highly but.. this is a high
quality business and virus or no, its products are very much in demand especially from the US Government from which it continues to win some nice chunky orders. It's one of the few shares I am willing to pay a premium for and so will pay for the quality on offer.
I bought some more D4T4 on weakness. It went down on results the other day
as I think some investors took profits after a good run. When good shares fall on results and you like them it's often great to buy on weakness in the days after..
It was a very strong statement and there is a decent cash pile. It is trying to change to recurring revenues which is a good plan.
I added some more Concurrent (CNC).
This one has so much potential and I am especially interested in the development of its Artificial Intelligence accelerator board.
From the recent AGM statement the virus hasn't hit much and the shares still look cheap even though they are a lot higher than my inititial couple of buys.
Anyway as you know I am an "average upper". Which means hopefully buying quality as it goes up. Sadly a lot of investors are "average downers" which often means buying more of the same rubbish they already bought higher in the hope of breaking even!
I took part profits on some K3C. BUT just about to buy back as I can
for now get a better price than institutions in a fund raise.
Fund raisings tend to hold share prices back a bit as more people have shares - but you often find after a successful raise, shares lift up again as should be the case here. Funds were raised for an acquisition at 150p and given institutions were happy to fork out at 150p and one can buy in at the same price or a bit lower even, looks a good time to buy. A rise back up at least to the 180p level ought to follow with some patience.
I took profits on the short in Novacyt - a nice £1,760 is banked and ended
up a lovely short. However it seems to have found a support level so seems the right time to bank the loot. It isn't my area either and it's so hard to work out what these shares are worth it might have been tempting fate not to bank it.
I've sold half of Team 17 to bank a very nice profit of £3,811. It is a great company but it does look very highly rated compared to its peers. Given I wasn't
totally sure, it felt right to sell some but not all.
So, the right shares continue to do ok and for now there is no
immediate sign of a massive crash despite you'd have thought all the conditions for one.
Maybe it really is just that where else do you put money at the mo?
It should be an interesting summer.
PREMIUM BOND SPOT: I have £49,000 of premium bonds £50k max allowed)
I thought be of interest to tell you what I "win" every month.
This month: £50. Last month £75. The average win for me this year
has been £75 per month. Interesting as they are supposed to pay out around 1.3%
and on current wins I'm getting nearly 2%.
Biggest individual bond win this year: £100.
I am a fan. Given 100% protection too there is also the fun of the
very remote chance of winning the million!
I also shift any spare cash into N S and I. Being a lucky smug
git who is now loaded it offers 1 per cent and 100% guaranteed
so no need for lots of separate bank accounts.

EXTRA INCOME FROM HOME
When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
