Thanks very much for your feedback to the NT Radio show 4. Glad you
enjoyed it! If you haven't heard it yet it is here:
>
In a normal year this would be the last update till September.
Over the years at this point I've said: that's it for now till September. I am off to Spain, see ya later suckers!
But if you like my updates because it's unlikely for now we will be going anywhere I am actually going to carry on with an update or two of which the next will be August 6.
Yes thanks to the virus this year you will get EXTRA updates. Woo hoo!
On top of that...
For many years people have asked if I would do a seminar on a
weekend day in the summer You can't get the day off during the week etc. And holiday time is easier. Please. Pretty please, and how about just for us beginners!
I always said no because on a weekend we can't do anything from live markets like supply and demand or a live trade or two.
But I have noticed more pressure for one from total beginners who
really just want a day of learning how to start from scratch without
worrying about the more complex things yet like level 2. And you were so keen for a weekend day.
So because of zoom I have caved in and announce the first ever
beginner only weekend day seminar for Saturday Aug 8th. It's 10am-5pm from your computer.
Email me for more details at robbiethetrader with "total beginners seminar"
in the subject line.
The next standard weekday beginners and improvers which WILL have live trading, level 2 and more will be on August 19th, mail me for details on that with "Aug 19th improvers" in the subject line.
Enjoyed yesterday's zoom seminar with some of you. Thanks so much for the feedback and some of you already have booked the follow up day with me on July 29th so will "see" some of you again then.
Lots of interesting trade ideas came up from the share screening so I benefitted myself.. I nearly lost my voice towards the end - the zoom ones are so knackering for me compared to a hotel one.
I guess I have to talk a lot more as there aren't many natural pauses. Thanks to all of you who joined in with your trading
stories and what went wrong and taking my telling you off on the chin!
We went to a restaurant! Whoooo!
Though it was quite hard to find one open. All our favourites are still shut.
Still, the Mrs found one that was open in Chelsea. We'd been to it before many moons
ago and remembered it was ok. Something about a twist on Peru. Or was it Sri Lanka?
The "Maitre D" looked at us probably wondering what two old people were doing
coming in and perhaps we thought the restaurant was Chelsea A and E?
There wasn't anyone in there over 30 except for one other brave oldie. But we think she
was just there to use the toilet.
You should be glad we're here," I wanted to say. "We're the ones taking the risk."
Social distancing? Not much. Actually none. The entitled chelsea trust fund youth could care less
after all it's only oldies like us that will die and who cares about us, we lived our lives and made
a mess of it it's their turn now.
Yah!" As Jemina hugged Pomegranite, and Henry hugged Rupert it was like the old days.
Our waiter had no mask or anything. However after showing us to a table near the toilet where
we couldn't be seen when he returned he was wearing a visor. Us oldies probably had it.
Just aim your mobile at the code there," he said impatiently. Christ, didn't we know paper
menus are so 2019? Thank goodness he didn't know I don't even own one.
The menu comes up on the phone of the Mrs and I grandly suggest she orders away. It's
one of those small plate type places. I might as well have an espresso martini as well.
Now, how does the bill work post virus? Oh, it's the same, the waiter brings a paper bill. Hang
on I thought.... oh never mind.
Assuming it would be about £40 for a few small bits and pieces. I airily produced my contactless
card. It was above £40 apparently so I'd have to key in the code. What? Above £40?
I then looked at the actual bill. £132. £132 !!!! And I'm still hungry, I only had a bit
of fish some veg and some ice cream.
Of course, it's Chelsea, the parents of the kids all have billions. It's a "We saw you coming"
restaurant and of course it is why they are open.
I key in the code. The waiter seems to breathe a sigh of relief. As the door closes behind us
I am sure I saw him putting up a sign "No over 40's".
I got home. Hang on! I touched the flipping credit card machine four times! And there was
no hand santiser! And I've touched my face at least 25 times!
Now I almost certainly have the virus!! The virus is laughing!
Hah," says the virus. "Another baldie gone. Right, let's find those with
diabetes or someone fat - let's get rid of anyone over 40 who isn't perfect - yay!"
Well hang on it is now 7 days later. I seem ok. But are all restaurants like this?
Thanks for all the feedback on the online seminars, latest
from David:
Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.
I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "ËœBetting'.
I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....
.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"
Naked Rambling
Masks, sprays, protection equipment, the longer the virus is here the more
head mangling it gets.
I did order some Fulham FC masks. Problem is they are black and frankly
it makes me look like a football hooligan.
Lucky for me between deliveries and the Mrs doing a weekly shop I rarely ever
venture into a shop and haven't for years so mask wearing isn't going to affect me much.
I gather they can get a bit annoying but it seems right to either make them compulsory in
shops or not. So decision made.
It will make the day when the order is you don't have to wear them anymore sweet.
But the big question is: when will liberation day be?
A bunch of awful "how virtuous am I" billionaires say they want
to be taxed more.
Well, just get your cheque book out and make it payable
to HMRC then. Nothing stopping you from paying up right now.
Bugger that reminds me I have to send the taxman a load of
money for this half year tax. And I'm not sending him a
penny more. Hope you enjoy someone not being
virtuous.
Mrs May picked up £52,000 for a one hour online zoom
speech. She's cashing in and good for her.
But Mrs May? Frankly she really isn't blessed with much talent
in the speech arena. A comatose performer.
So glad to say I am available at just HALF that price for any one hour zoom speech you'd like me to make. I'm available at any
time (as long as you paid in advance). (I'm brave, I'll take cash despite the virus!)
I'll wear my nicest T-shirt (it's got spaceships on it!!). I can even do
jokes! Have you heard the one about.. Terms and conditions: £1,000 per minute for anything over an hour. (I tend to ramble on a bit).
The Many Secrets (*) or (****) BBC1
The BBC has as lot of blank schedules so it buying in Aussie dramas to fill the gap.
What to say about this? It's is terrible - but is it so bad it's good?
Twists are signalled a mile off and the pyscho type drama has been done so many
times. It isn't dramatic or funny. But what the hell we are still watching it. Is it bad? Is
is good? I simply have no idea - put it down to lockdown madness.
Get Shorty (**) or (****) Atlantic
Yet another one that is so bad it might be good, or it might be bad but yet again
I keep watching it. Now in series three. The characters are all terrible and the story
is a load of cobblers. And yet... I am still there
Mrs America (****) BBC2
OK this one is definitely good. Or is it? Yes, it is. Lots of famous actors here including
the excellent Kate Blanchett. The ERA (women's lib) movement in the US in the
70s is explored via the rival camps.
This involves a lot of fun, some good political drama and gives an excuse to air
some 70s classic music. A good watch.
I May Destroy You (****) BBC 1
Kept reading about this so just gave it a go and so far so good. Or is it?
Well, whatever, it takes risks, it is bold and brave tale. And reminds we why I'm
glad I'm not in my 20s anymore! Did I do that? Really?
Celebrity GoggleBox (****)
You can't beat Bez and the Happy Mondays having their no nonsense
say on TV but isn't Gyles Brandeth great? I wish he was my uncle or
something - I would love him to come round once a week (he would probably
be a pain every day) for a chat and a laugh.
The Man With The Ten Stone Testicles (*) Ch 4
A total load of balls.
Peter Crouch Save Our Summer (*)
Even bigger load of balls. A terrible host, bungled
format, and worse, incredibly dull. Like being in a room
with football blokes who think they're funny. Stop it now.
People keep going on about Rishi Sunak's "smart mug".
My mugs are always smart. Because they always contain Yorkshire tea.
Rail operators are continuing to dump "Human sewage" onto tracks.
They really just don't give a sh1t.

MARKETS
EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

It really is all about the virus!
Markets have been positive this week on news that a
vaccine might be nearer than expected.
But imagine if that turns out not to be true, they will
go straight back down.
All in all though actually the last month not a lot has happened
except good shares have been going up and bad ones
down which suits me, sir.
For the time being then it's almost business as usual like it's 2019.
I'll continue for now to pick strong ones or average up.
Talking strong I bought some Qinetic (QQ.) It put out a very decent statement this week and the fundamentals here look great and I think it is well undervalued.
It looks like a long-term winner to me with plenty of potential upside. It is gradually building into a substantial company and continues to use its cash pile to buy others.
This week it bought Naimura for cash which looks excellent and adds further software and data analytics.
This science and engineering outfit looks well run and has a decent future. Long-term hold unless the virus makes a massive return.

I've had a flutter on.. Flutter!
Flutter is a massive gambling outfit and owns the big names like Paddy Power. It's raised a lot of money easily from investors and institutions.
The opening up of gambling in the USA provides a lot of opportunity for further growth and with shares breaking up it looked a good time to take a flutter on the shares. (Note: I know, I can't keep using this gag for much longer). (As I said to the wife last night).
Debt is low and it looks like all steam ahead. Potential downside? Well, governments are trying to control gambling and there is potential for further regulation.
Talking gambling I added some more 888 as I carried on averaging up.
Covered this one a lot in the last update - there is a lot of untapped value on offer here and I think a bid here could be on the cards this year.
With the US opening up, if I was a larger company in the sector it would look like a decent add on.
I bought more Codemasters (CDM), a few more live at the online seminar this week.
In fact we had an interesting chat about the various computer game companies and was asked why I favoured this one over the others.
Simply, the pe ratio on CDM was just a lot lower than the others and it seemed like it had some catching up to do. 450p looks a reasonable target for this one which remains too cheap compared to its rivals.
I bought some Allianz Technology, (ATT) a trust that is quite handy as it gives me some exposure to the top US tech companies which I don't have any exposure to except Zoom.
Its top holdings are Microsoft, Netflix, Amazon, Crowdstrike,
Paycom. MongoDB, Ringcentral. Samsung and Lam research.
It is a nice cheap way to have a stake in all those in this trust.
Shares in these types of things rise and fall depending on the net asset values of the trust taking all its holdings into account.
Obviously should the US market start to sink badly then
I'm out!"
I shorted Halfords (HFD) as I have a few times over the years.
Awful service, and the rating just looks way too high especially taking its debt into account. Looks overrated on the thought that more people are buying bikes or will buy electric scooters.
Rbg Group suddenly spiked up - I quickly realised it is because it was one of the sudden investors chronicle "tips" that get emailed out.
Amazingly these tips can push smaller shares up crazily for no reason other than there is a rush to buy in.
Frankly a 20pc uplift for no other reason than a tip was enough for me to say "thanks so much" as it hadn't moved for ages so I sold for a profit of £1,250.
Usually after the initial spike for the tips the early buyers cash in
then later buyers get fed up and sell. Once the share price goes down again, one can buy back in!
So markets remain for now volatile but seemingly marooned
in the same territory. Looks like they are waiting for virus
news one way or the other so it all remains a bit of
a gamble for the moment.

EXTRA INCOME FROM HOME
When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
