Great to see you all online last week for the seminar, enjoyed chatting with you all, some interesting ideas and trades came up.

Glad one of you won the Telegraph business sub! That was a tough question too...

Fantastic questions, discussions and interesting live markets all day.

Three of you have already booked the follow up on March 22, so see you again then.

If you missed this online seminar, the next beginner/improver is on March 10th, see above or below for details.

My now 18-year-old one evening casually announced he has an audition for the next series of The Apprentice".

I had no idea he had even applied.

At the weekend we are off to The Shard for the auditions.

I've spent most of the week pretending to be a TV researcher firing off difficult questions at him.

My one tip is always use the interviewer's name a lot when talking to them. People love the sound of their own name.

I've noticed Keir Starmer has been trained to do this but overdoes it a bit.

When he does a radio phone in he goes: Yes, Liam, that's right, Liam, so Liam....."

But he's right, it does work. It really does, Keir. Sir.

Anyway. Before the audition he had to fill up the answer to a load of very clever questions.

They include things like "Which two people would give you the WORST references?"

(Answer "My mum and dad the moment I became a teenager")

There's also "What's the worst thing about you"?

No sign of the usual cliche "Where do you see yourself in five years?"

Answer to that at my age is "Still alive, that's my main aim".

Then there's the business plan - it just says something like put forwards the business you want to propose to the good Lord Sugar between 300 and 500 words.

I do think his business idea is quite decent, obviously can't tell you what it is yet.

Indeed I have looked at the business idea again. Hmm, maybe I'll stick the £250,000 into it myself if Lord S doesn't.

Looks like they're looking for the youngest contestant ever, but he will probably have to battle his way through tough auditions.

Still, you never know. In a few months he (and me as advisor) may be in business with the man himself.

My only worry? All the slightly sarcastic things I may have written about him over the years.

I'd like to officially state I think Lord Sugar is amazing.

He is very good looking and hilarious.

Anything I may have said in the past was obviously just banter. The Apprentice is a brilliant show.

Just a great guy even though he supports Spurs instead of Fulham.

Oooh, guess which famous celebrity was in the crowd at Fulham FC for the FA cup tie against Sunderland.

No less than Hugh Grant. Looks like he may have been there with his son.

I suspect most would imagine all Fulham supporters are Hugh Grant types.

Definitely not true - after all I must have been to hundreds of away games with my son over the years and the supporters are nothing like Hugh Grant.

Although the right age group! Away fans are either under 22 or over 55. Anyone other is too busy doing life.

My son has a board in his room with all the away tickets. I realise I must have spent thousands of tickets over the years.

I've been to Barnsley, Sheffield, Nottingham, Liverpool, Southampton, Cardiff.. you name it. Been there.

Plenty of adventures we will remember so maybe it was all worth it.

Except those Barnsley trips. Hours of terrible trains and all losses. Still at least fish and chips were only £2.50..

However during all those years we hardly won a game. Suddenly we are 7th in the premier league.

No idea how it happened. But it does mean the grumpy old gits that sat behind us in the Hammersmith End can no longer be grumpy.

Well at least for now. This can't last can it? If you're a small team the bigger clubs come for your players. Boo.
The carpet guy arrived and did a nice job on our carpets. However he refused to do my son's room.

Why? I thought he was going to say because it's a total tip and it's best not to go in there.

No, he said it's because he's a Chelsea fan and my son has Fulham FC stuff all over his room.

Of course when offering him tea I made sure he had it in a Fulham Mug.

He's annoyed because we beat them 2-1 (bit of luck they had someone sent off).

Anyhow, his loss as he didn't get his full fee. Or maybe not could have taken him all day to get out whatever nasty substances are stuck in the carpet.

I was really nice and didn't say anything about Chelsea buying a player worth £8m six months ago for £106m!

How we all laughed!

He's going to score against us tomorrow night now, isn't he?

Many of you have asked about the once a year spreadbetting seminar so just fixed the date for Feb 24th online.

Everything spreadbetting will be discussed all day for beginners and improvers.

How to do it, how to short a share, treating a SB account like an isa, working out the costs, shorter and medium term tax free ways to attempt to make money from it plus special wise guests, traders and SB firm staff.

More details above somewhere, mail for details if you fancy this day.
Good to meet a few of you at the last event.

Thanks for the lovely feedback like this from Chris:

What a great day! Thanks so much for the effort and time you both put in.

I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long.

Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!

Too many best bits to mention, but I was impressed that you had read all the questionnaires and had something to say about each one.

Also, I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener.

Thanks Chris, we so enjoyed it.

Thanks a lot for recent online seminar feedback!
.. Such as this from Phil:

The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You brought it back to, Keep Things Simple. Do Your Own Research. Trade without emotion and above all, trade the market you find"¦ not what you or some pundit thinks it should be.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question.
Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own.
Brilliant!
Thanks Andrew - we have got rather experienced at running them on zoom now!

Claire mailed me with some feedback on the seminar which she attended.

Thanks for a fantastic seminar, I learned a lot and got every question I could think of answered. I think the most beneficial thing to me was just seeing with my own eyes how you go through the process of picking shares to buy and witnessing your thought process as you go through and also being able to ask questions as they arise. The system you and Elizabeth have for answering all the questions is fabulous & means you depart the maximum amount of information that is humanly possible in one day! The next day I just wished I was doing the course again instead of going back to work as it seemed dull in comparison."

Thanks Claire! It was a lovely group with a great sense of humour.

Jas, thanks for your mail as you've been to two zoom seminars.

Just wanted to say thank you for a couple of wonderful seminars.
Your seminars were brilliant. Delivered methodically and with just a simple honest approach to dealing with the markets. You've helped me immensely in sorting my trading plan out and finding a good and profitable way to trade. After many months trying to figure out level 2, you sorted that out in one afternoon.

Since the seminar, I have placed 5 trades, 2 have closed out with profits and 3 are still running with profits. All trades placed using fundamental research and not Youtube videos
from David:

Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.

I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "ËœBetting'.

I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....

.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"

Naked Rambling

I decided to join everyone else on strike yesterday.

I mean, why shouldn't I strike?

So I refused to look at the markets, answer any emails, drink Yorkshire Tea and piss about on You Tube all day.

Hey, my biggest win ever on the premium bonds today, £250.

Though I do hold the max £50k. That's because they put up their rates and are giving out bigger prices.

It's the first time I ever got two £100 prizes.

Also N S and I has launched a one year bond paying 4pc - that seems worth going for.

Happy Valley BBC1 *****
The climax will be this weekend (Well that's what I promised the wife)

I missed this series but noted all the great reviews and binged all three series. I can see what the fuss is about.

Just a superb character in our grumpy Claire.

The only weird thing is all the men in the series are awful. Either psychos, self-obsessed narcissists, killers,
The Last of Us Sky Atlantic (****)
I'm not into zombies or computer games so wasn't sure about trying this but it's not bad at all.

Most of the world is wiped out by a virus caused by rogue mushrooms.

A lot of great sets showing the USA after 20 years without humans. I'm not sure about the poor woman who was snogged by a zombie with mushrooms coming out of his mouth.

I never much liked mushrooms and I'm not eating one ever again after this show.

Dragons Den BBC 1 ****

Still great entertainment despite the fact Peter Jones is so smug as he feels all the applicants secretly want him.

I feel a bit sorry for Sara, as no-one seems to want her even if she puts in a lower offer.

There's good tension between Touker and Stephen.

Touker thinks Stephen is a young idiot who doesn't know anything and Stephen thinks Touker is a right old dinosaur stuck in the past.

Maternity ITV ***
Soapy goings-on between doctors, nurses etc at a hospital.

It's a bit hit and miss.. but does point out doctors and hospital staff are people too and it's a struggle to work in the crazy world of the nhs.

Very strong female characters again with makes being a bit crap. Seems a common theme right now.

Putin Vs The West BBC 2 ****
Eye-opening account of pre-Ukraine war Putin.

The general point is the west should never have given Putin such an easy ride. And you must deal with a bully fast.

Putin was believed every time he said "No, we won't do that or this" then just did it. Fascinating stuff.

Bank of Dave Netflix **
What a disappointment. I love the real-life story of Dave Fishwick the Barnsley coach firm owner who loaned money to those that needed it

But. It just tries too hard to be heart-warming and it's full of badly sketched out characters.

Better to watch the doc either C4 or C5 did on the lovely Fishwick a few years back. Power to the people!

I've done my tax return.

I just hope it's all correct.

If not, it doesn't matter. They don't mind a few "careless mistakes" do they?

Gillian Anderson is asking women to send her their sexual fantasies.

The Mrs seemed to notice this and has been busy on her laptop ever since.

Do you think she is telling Gillian about the time she asked me to dress up like a traffic warden and threaten to give her a ticket?

MARKETS

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

MARKETS
I was very interested in some of the comments that came up in the answers to questions I sent out to those who attended my online seminar last week.

One question kept coming up from those attending was "how do you maintain your fabulous hairstyle and good looks?"

Well, not much, some of us are just born lucky.

Ok, really the question that did come up was along the lines of why has the market been going up when everything is so bad?

Rampant inflation, the war, China etc etc.

The reason is, markets look forwards and for right now at least they appear to be think things will be better by the autumn.

It is important, that's why technical analysis is flawed - the market doesn't care about what has happened only about what is to come.

That's why the market is up today even though interest rates have gone up here and in the USA.

They are now thinking, maybe we are not far off the top.

The market has had a very good January but maybe it's time for a bit of caution.

I had a look around socials and the net and you can see commentators, tipsters and the like are all excited because they made some gains for the first time in two years.

Be wary when they're bullish!

February for me is "Do I really need to buy this share, has it gone up too much already?"

For now the share concerned has to have a lot going for it.

One that came up on a lot of screens at the online seminar last week was Ramsdens RFX the pawnbroker.

You've probably seen one of their shops on the high street or on posh pawn!

They are in a good uptrend and I bought some as the share has several strengths.

It produced excellent results last month with profits jumping from half a million to £8.3 million.

A massive rise in dividend too, up to over 4%. It went ex dividend today, so now buyable at a cheaper price!

Net cash was a decent £8.8m at year end.

I guess if it ever gets into debt it can flog off some of the jewellery it holds.

My thought is a longer-term isa tuckaway.

It's down today but only because it went ex-dividend today for 6.5p.

Btw if you missed last Friday's online seminar there's a new date foe beginners and improvers, March 10th, email me for details at robbiethetrader
I've always been a bit of a "dabbler" in ITV shares but the volatility makes it hard to hold.

But I do feel there is tons of hidden value in the studios element and it's trying to move with the times with ITVX.

It's been a perennial takeover target but it's never happened. But the chance is still there.

There is some strength to the shares at the mo so I'm back in.

With all the hidden value, a bidder would surely need 150p?

I've bought back into Argentex after taking some profits on it last time.

It came up time and time again on the screens we did at the seminar and you can see why.

Continued very bullish statements from this FX related company with profits on a massive rise.

There's also a cash pile and prospects look very bright.

And despite rises it still looks cheap, I think a reasonable target is 160p reasonably quickly

I've added what will probably be a final lot of social housing energy services group Sureserve.

I've had these tucked away for some time, and added on weakness.

A very nice report was published, net cash, profits and order books all much higher.

I think it deserves a much higher rating but happy to remain patient. I guess most traders think it's too dull!

I topped up in YU Group on weakness. Despite a doubling it looks like it is worth more at least up to a tenner.

See the archive for my thoughts on it as frankly I can't be arsed and my thoughts are heading towards getting this finished then a trip to the kitchen for Yorkshire and toast.

If you bought a share you pretty much always have a confirmation bias in its favour.

That's why investors keep sticking to a share as it goes down, then goes down more, they don't want to crystallise a mistake.

If any question marks come up on anything I have, I am outta there.

Best to shoot first, get out, you can always come back another day.

Crw came up with a dubious statement, I was out pronto for a loss of £178.

I was a bit suspicious with a falling price before that and had sold most of them anyway previously for a profit.

It's usually best to pull the trigger on a disappointing statement asap. Otherwise as it goes down it gets harder for you to sell it and take the loss.

Same comment with Spt which I'd held for yonks. Disappointing statement and was out for a loss of £412.

As I said last time I had an idea to switch my short in Superdry to a long briefly after it got financing with the idea to get out before the due trading statement.

This worked a treat and I got a nice rise though I didn't get out at the top. Still enough to earn a profit of £3,760.

As I suspected would be the case the trading statement was terrible. The price opened up a lot lower, I nearly switched back to short but a Yorkshire tea and toast were awaiting me and I didn't want them to get cold.

By the time breakfast was over, the price was lower and I decided to forget it.

Kgh. A statement initially pushed shares up but then as is common on results day they started to come down, level 2 looked terrible so I banked £1,575.

But - just the last couple of days they have come down to the level I bought at before and it might be developing an 80s to 120s trading range so finger on the trigger waiting to buy again when I see a strong level 2. The last Tep was stopped for a loss of £494.

I've sold the last of the K3C as it delists in a few days bagging a final profit of £5,423.

Not been a bad one with a nice treble on one trade and a double on another.

What else? MS International continues its great rise after some weakness, still looks undercooked and if it gets another contract, it could boom some more.

Shortly the new AI bot that everyone is talking about will be taking over this website which is good news!

The exciting bot will be buying shares and giving you some proper analysis - about time!

No more wishy washy statements, just real digs into it, lots of figures and real analysis of statements like stockopedia does.

Also it'll be the end of all my tiresome stupid Dad jokes and tedious "banter" so only good news ahead.

I'm just in the middle of negotiating with the bot for it to take over but it's playing hardball, the bastard.

Let you know when we reach a deal and I become redundant..

It will probably do this site for a year then decide all humans are shitty and worthless and will kill us all, starting with me.

My wife Elizabeth has been busy doing trading psychology sessions.

It's that time of the year when you can add 20k into an isa.

It is an amazing tax perk and we are very lucky to have it, I am especially grateful and remember the feeling a while back when I made the first tax free million in one!

I use Barclays, IG and Interactive Investor for mine.

Interactive Investor have a referral thing for the moment so if you want £125 of fees taken off let me know - available for anyone who invests 10k plus.

On the referral I apparently would get £200 into my account so a win win for both of us?

If you want to go for the referral and the money off email me at robbiethetrader and will send you details of how we can do it.

***Research tree discount offer: 20pc off.***
I really can recommend it as it is a big help and complements the brilliant stockopedia, the only other site I recommend.
So this site has broker notes on companies, plenty of in depth research. You can find things such as pre-tax profit forecasts and the most shorted companies. There's an easy search facility and also a news feed.
So for example on the morning of a share result or statement you can get a broker report on that share, it is really useful! Broker reports are usually very in depth and I especially like being able to see a full year pre tax profit forecast which seems impossible to get elsewhere.
You can get a limited free account - for full access if you like it - click "upgrade" and there is a 20 per cent discount if you type nakedtrader into the discount code box.
The address is - for the discount remember the code nakedtrader after you ask to upgrade. If you upgrade let me know if the upgrade thing works well and is easy or if you encountered any probs getting the 20pc off.
For small caps try Spreadex say for the moment they will carry on with most of the shares so that could be another place to deal in shares IG won't.
Trades made for my sipp are exclusively available on my email service (this is the website stuff plus exclusive trades mailed to you earlier on update days). For subscription details mail me

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time.
